9:46: Just ran into Mark Wade, a high school student from Kansas City. He's here with a couple friends, all wearing "NKC Republicans" t-shirts.

He's enamored with Sarah Palin.

"She's like my female Jesus," Wade said.

He said he appreciated the strength Palin has shown through the campaign, particularly in light of the questions raised and criticisms of her qualifications.

"She stands for everything I think common Americans stand for, they just don't realize it with all the bias that's going on right now," he said.

As for the Republican ticket's platform, Wade said he was confident Palin would take a hard line in foreign policy -- she'd be tough if she ever had to take on Vladimir Putin or Mahmoud Ahmadinajad. Barack Obama, by contrast seems "a little lenient," he said.
