Hillary would be a real asset- the woman is a wonderful public servant. What position do you think she might wind up in if he asks her to join his cabinet?

1. Secretary of HHS. IF she leaves the Senate.
Obama has hinted that Hillary will be 'at the forefront' of the fight to fix our health care system. That said, she could become an even more powerful, respected and beloved version of Ted Kennedy if she stays in the Senate, and that'd be a pretty damn admirable legacy in its own right. She'll have many options after Tuesday, and she more than deserves to plot her own course.

2. I think she should replace Ried as Majority Leader.
I see no reason to remove her from the senate when she could be so effective there.

3. no, she won't be. Why the heck should she give up being a powerful
Senator on the way up? There's no way she'll give it up, and she may still have hopes for 2012 if Obama is an unpopular prez after 3 years.

5. Thom Hartmann keeps floating Hillary as Senate Majority Leader -
I'd like to see Harry Reid replaced. He has an election cycle coming up and we need a Senate Majority Leader who KNOWS how to pull strings and get legislation passed. Reid has refused to stand up to the Republican bullying, even though since 2006, all that would require is making the Republicans actually go down to the floor of the Senate and stand and filibuster for hour after hour after hour until they finally stop threatening filibusters as a way of slowing Senate activity and blocking legislation that has more than 50 supporters.

6. Aint gonna happen ...
WHY do people expect powerful Senators to leave their seats, for a ministerial position in the executive branch ?

So an unknown can take the seat ?

7. I think yes.
If she is offered a spot, I think it's gotta be Attorney General or HHS. She's unlikely to be offered Defense, State, or Treasury, and any other cabinet post would be a step down for her.

9. Hillary will be in the thick of the health care reform battle...
..and that tells me she will remain in the Senate.. Teddy Kennedy is already at work on it and Hillary will put her muscle behind it. .

11.  I think it would be a mistake to give up her independent power
base as a Senator for any presidential appointment other than one to the Supreme Court.

12. I saw an interview with HRC
she said, "If we learned anything from my husband's administration, it is don't weaken yourself in the Senate."

This was her response to the question of what cabinet position she might like or be offered.

16. Hillary said that Bill and her learned not to take senators from the senate.
If we get the magic 60, then she will want to be in the senate.

18. As competent as she is, I highly doubt she'd be interested for the simple reason of human nature
As genuinely supportive as she is of Obama, and as genuinely admiring as she is of Obama, she isn't going to be part of the Cabinet of the President who "denied" her the one and maybe only chance to become President herself. It's not because she has any hard feelings towards Obama. She knows how the game is played, and she really loves the guy. It's just human nature. Being in Barack's cabinet would only remind her daily of what could have been for her. I would be totally surprised if she accepted any role in Barack's cabinet. IMO, Hillary will opt to continue fighting like crazy for him and for all Democrats in the Senate and in the country.

Having said that, Hillary Clinton is one of the most gracious people on the planet when it comes to anyone who lost in the Primaries.

19. She'll stay in the Senate forever.
Unfortunately, Ted Kennedy is on his way out, and she will replace him as Big Liberal.

That's where she belongs, and that's where she'll stay.
Much more powerful that Sec of HHS or something along those lines.

So... no, she won't be part of his cabinet, and rightfully so.

She will be one of the key legislators to shape and pass the bills we need passed. She will become Ted Kennedy'esque..
