MSNBC Anchor "Polls show that the race is narrowing nationally" and then they show this graphic
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 09:57 AM by grantcart
While just agreeing with whatever the McCain campaign spokesman says this graphic is posted.

I would love to believe that some editor just got fed up with the on air talent but I suspect it was just a mistake.

1. It boggles the mind.
Do they think the ratings would suffer if they told the truth?

2. I thought that was strange too.
The graph contradicted what the anchor was saying at that moment. And no comment was made on that. Weird.

9. But this proves it will be narrowing soon--every time Obama hits 51%, he narrows back down to 50%.

We want tightening, too....to keep supporters from getting complacent and concentrated on getting out the vote and.......

Well, you know.

12. The national polls may have indeed narrowed some what since last week BUT
The electoral state polls are still abysmal for McCain and that's what counts on Nov. 4th. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes...

14. Kind of reminds of that scene from "Fun with Dick & Jane" (the remake with Jim Carrey)
where Jim Carrey's character is on the news trying to peddle his company's propaganda line and the tickers underneath him on the TV completely contradict him.

Truth sometimes really is stranger (or just as strange) as fiction sometimes, really.

16. well, the national polls don't matter anyway....
the state polls in the battleground states are the ones we should focus on.

21. I absolutely refuse to believe it's that close
Something is wrong with these polls.

McCain's campaign is a total failure -- even his own advisers are bailing out. McCain and the Witch Hunter can't get more than 10,000 to a rally, while Obama gets hundreds of thousands. Obama has outraised McCain by a 10-1 margin. People are lining up to vote for hours, most of them self-identifying as Obama voters.

And the polls want us to believe it's within the margin of error.

I'm not buying it. They are scamming us.

25. This election season demonstrates clearly that media monopolies
need to be broken up.

This election demonstrates how very biased our FIVE media conglomerates can be.

There was a far better range of perspectives broadcast when we had more media companies.

28. They're probably right. The problem is...
that the narrowing is itself far too "narrow" to change the result. Two weeks ago "narrowing" meant a two point margin on election day. Now it means five points on election day.

29. I've seen two graphic mistakes recently. I think both CNN. One was Obama 49%, McCain 4%.
It was Anderson Cooper reciting poll results. The actual results were Obama 49% McCain 44%, but the graphic showed McCain at 4%. Ha. They caught it & in a couple of minutes showed the graphic again, with the correct numbers, and called attention to the error.

The OTHER one, believe it or not, was the identification of the states (ON A U.S. ELECTORAL MAP) showing where Obama was campaigning. The states were Nevada, Colorado, and Missouri. Those states were colored in a different color with a line going from one to the other (to show Obama's travel route). But the state of Colorado was identified by OH.

True. Can't make this stuff up. And these are the professionals!
