Did you see these polls MSNBC is pushing today? Ridiculous!
They're showing an obscure poll that Chuck Todd never even heard of, from Sept. 15-Oct. 17th, claiming it's new and that it's "now" TIED in CO and NM, and Obama's up only 4% in NV. AND the McCain campaign is claiming they're in a "dead heat" in IOWA, too. (I have a sneaky suspicion they're going to try to steal Iowa since they've been there so many times with NO changing poll numbers). In a WAY I'm happy, since it'll make us work even harder, but I hate the bias of the "liberal" MSM. Especially when you add in the fact that they KEEP showing every minute of Palin's and McCain's speeches, but totally ignore Biden's and cut away from Obama's. :eyes:

5. Yeah-they're going to cite this poll by saying, "a poll that just came out shows we're tied
in NM and CO!" Another surrogate already DID. :eyes:

They could say "you must turn in to witness history" and "we've never ever seen anything like this."

"Once in a lifetime seismic event in the land."

"Must see TV!"

I'd tune in to watch that.

Wouldn't you?

The score might set a new record, but the game's gonna be a yawner.

Edited: I originally said "USC play Washington State"

4. MSM is in pure desperation mode now. Trying to milk the ratings in the final 4 days
trying desperately to make sure people tune in over the weekend to hear them chatter about this "horse race"

9. This reminds me of the teases that local news stations do to rivet their viewers
They keep you glued to the set, and when they finally reveal what they were teasing about all night, it's a big disappointment.

But they never apologize -- they're only in it for the ratings, so whatever they can do to keep viewers in front of the tube, they do it.

Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 01:34 PM by Stagecoach
These media outlets, whether it's MSNBC/NBC, CBS, CNN, ABC, etc., they've spent a lot of money on gizmos and toys and exit polls for people like Chuck Todd, Jeff Greenfield, John King, etc. to use on Tuesday (Election Night) and they need to re-coup that money through ad revenue on Tuesday night. And the way they hook an advertiser in is by promising them certain ratings throughout the broadcast, and any shortfall will be made up with free commercials in the future. Which, in turn, takes away commercial time that could otherwise have been sold with monetary value attached.

The only way they're going to draw ratings for their commercials to pay for their election toys is to get the narrative going that the race is going to be close. That's why, don't be surprised on election night we're not seeing any media outlets declaring a president until well into the evening. It's against their own interests to call it early.

23. True...
but with all their talk about "watching the results of VA at 7pm" to get an idea of how the race will go, that if Obama wins VA it should be very difficult for McCain to win, you'd think it could be an EARLY night.

35. Did he? Glad to hear it. Sorry I jumped in there on Chuck.
I've been saddened by his waffling. It has seemed like he was trying too hard to pump up Republican chances lately.

They say he's personally a Democrat, and I think MSNBC may "play the ref" a bit with their commentators. Lean on the Dems to prove their bias isn't showing one iota. They bend over backward and end up pretending the Republicans make sense, when they often don't.

So whoops on me this time.
Didn't see this one myself.
