My weekend from hell

Four of us are leaving early tomorrow to drive from Pittsburgh to South Bend, Indiana for the Pitt-ND game.

The other three guys in the car are hard-core Republicans.


I have to sit in a car with them for 6 hours each way..... and spend Saturday night in a hotel room with them.... where I'm sure they'll be watching SNL.


Two months ago, this looked like a fun trip. Now, I'm dreading it.


Gotta charge up the IPod so I can tune them out.

i am sure they are wealthy or make over $250K a year!!!.

4. Really, there is no chance to change their minds.... two are family, one is a friend...

One is a hardcore Hannity-listening guy who will shout down anybody who disagrees with him... I'd rather not even try.


The other two are relatively well-off who believe the "socialism" crap. I COULD get to them, if the third guy wasn't in the car.... it will just turn into an unpleasant shouting match.

...and I don't need that shit for 6 hours on the road.

if you do get yourself an ipo or challenge their right wing mentality and for once make them think why they are republicans..

5. Ask them to table all political discussion

If they are friends of yours, then you should be able to ask them to refrain from discussing a hot-button issue because not everyone in the car is in agreement. If they are nice friends, I think they should respect that.

There are so many other things that you all could talk about. Ask them to leave the politics alone. You won't change their minds and they cannot change yours, so its a waste of breath and time.

I hope they would honor your request.
