Can Kerry use the "Your Republican Party has been hijacked" meme?
To reach out to moderate, Reaganite type republicans who are upset with the Borrow and Spend Bush policies?

He seems to talk about those issues, but I don't hear anyone framing it in a manner that really hits home with voters.

Seems like there's a lot of room with a comment like this.

4. Absolutely , 'cause it's true.
Couple it with the huge deficits they are now running as proof that they are not conservatives.

6. He can
The Republicans have traditionally branded themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility. That goes all the way back to Coolidge. Bush and his people are trying to hide the fact he is fiscally reckless. Remember, his own budget director seemed to think our coffers were in the hands of your basic drunken sailor. If these economic conservatives are reminded of the insult Bush has done to our financial security they may just stay home on election day.

7. I hate the word "meme."
Just had to say that. It drives me crazy, everybody saying, "this should be the new meme," "can this be the meme," "here's Bush's meme...," "blah, blah, blah meme." Enough with the meme, meme!

10. I don't know whether there is enough time between now and the election
to develop this theme, especially since many people are sceptical of things said during a campaign. However, I do think that the democratic party needs to adopt a longer term strategy to redefine the republican party in a way that causes moderate republicans and independents to stop voting republican. The republican party adopted such a long term strategy against the democratic party many years ago and it has been very effective.

14. Absolutely
The Republican Party has been highjacked by the PNAC'ers, with the help from the fundies and their leaders Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. They knew they would be unable to start a third party to gain control of our democracy so they slowly gained control of The Republican Party and what was once a Conservative, less goverernment and considered "The Loyal Opposition," has become a dictatorship. It is sad to see the older faithful Republicans that do not recognize what has happened and still believe they are honestly being represented.

Maybe Kerry could better use those Republicans that are now openly supporting him by laying out the changes in the Republican Party and why they as Republicans should fight to take their party back or deny them, the dictators, the support they need to survive.
