Cheney Warns Against Vote for Kerry

AMY LORENTZEN

Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa - Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday warned Americans about voting for Democratic Sen. John Kerry, saying that if the nation makes the wrong choice on Election Day it faces the threat of another terrorist attack.

The Kerry-Edwards campaign immediately rejected those comments as "scare tactics" that crossed the line.

"It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States," Cheney told about 350 supporters at a town-hall meeting in this Iowa city.

If Kerry were elected, Cheney said the nation risks falling back into a "pre-9/11 mind-set" that terrorist attacks are criminal acts that require a reactive approach. Instead, he said Bush's offensive approach works to root out terrorists where they plan and train, and pressure countries that harbor terrorists.

6. In a way, the old bastard is right
The terrorists want Gee Dumbya to get back into office for another 4 years, because that would spell the end of the US experiment. They know this quite well, which is why they haven't launched another attack as yet. They haven't planned one. The Dumbys team hasn't prevcented anything except passively, through their utter incompetence.

I Kerry is elected, he's someone they have to fear. They'll launch an attack just to try to discredit him, and it may work.

They know they can count on Dummy's team to do exactly the wrong thing 100% of the time. Kerry's got them scared.

18. bin Laden LOVES Bush.
Rather than bin Laden becoming Enemy #1, Bush took the bait and made bin Laden's dream come true. Rather than a war of al Qaeda v. the world, * has made it into the Middle East v. America.

2. Kerry must address this smear immediately
by pointing out that the worst terrorist attack on American soil happened on the Bush/Cheney watch.

7. Correct... and...
... not only that, it happened because the Bush Admin was still fighting Cold War ghosts -- ignoring every warning on the clear and present threat of global terrorism.

3. Talking Points
1) Bush/Cheney outsource your job, now they want to outsource our election.
2) More Americans have died because of terrorist attacks during the BC Admin. than in every other American administration combined.
3) Terrorist attacks are on the rise worldwide in spite of the Bush policy.

5. I think Edward's response was good
Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards issued a statement, saying, "Dick Cheney's scare tactics crossed the line today, showing once again that he and George Bush will do anything and say anything to save their jobs. Protecting America from vicious terrorists is not a Democratic or Republican issue and Dick Cheney and George Bush should know that."

10. Well considering MIHOP, that makes perfect sense
It shows exactly how evil this motherfucker is. They made it happen the first time, and they'll make it happen again if they don't get re-elected. There's only one problem, since the continued threat of terrorism is needed in order continue pumping money into Halliburton and all the other Bushco war profiteers, WE'LL PROBABLY HAVE ANOTHER ATTACK ANYWAY. The only way they'll survive is in a continued climate of fear. The only way they can keep the fear level up is to stage another attack on US soil.

14. trashing a neighbor while taking out the trash
my neighbor and I met up at the end of the driveway -- it's "put the trash out night"

he smirked and asked if I had heard Cheney saying that if Kerry wins then we will be attacked

I asked him "Who was in the white house on September 11, 2001 when we were attacked? Who disregarded a report that say Bin-Laden determined to attack? Who sat in a classroom for 7 minutes while we were being attacked? Who invaded Iraq and thereby boosted terrorist recruitment? Who's taxcuts have caused fire houses to close, towns to lay off police and other first responders? Who hasn't adequately funded Homeland security that leaves our borders and ports wide open? Who raises the alert levels? Who was against Homeland Security then was for it? Who was against a 9-11 investigation then was for it? Who blames the FBI, the CIA, and everyone else for failing to adequately protect the country?"

no answer..... just the bush*-echo-chorus of "..they hate our freedoms"

my response - "so if bush* gets re-selected and cuts our freedoms they will like us more and therefore be less likely to attack -- whereas if Kerry is elected they will hate us more because we have more freedoms? -- look the terrorists will attack no matter who is sitting in the white house -- this issue is that we are NOT safer when our borders and ports of entry are wide open, we are NOT safer when our first responders are being laid off -- we are NOT safer when our troops are tied up in a stupid half-baked cockamamie war looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction that aren't there."

just some more bush*it-echo-chorus

'nailed' this by calling it "Fear-mongering intended to distract people from the real isssues."

Looks like Kerry finally has the gloves on!
