Can I get an Amen?
Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now, because I've been to the mountaintop.
And I don't mind.

Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!

April 3, 1968 to November 4, 2008.

40 years in the wilderness but we are almost there! Hang in Brothers and Sisters, and keep walking and talking and soon we will get there!

the 'shrooms' in the gravy the other night.

4. Amen
Amen....
The promised land...The land I have dreamed of, where our country can judge a person by their character and not by the color of their skin...
Ever since I was a little girl and wondered why there was so much division and hatred towards others who might be deemed somehow... different
Ever since I looked in horror and grief at a Black & White Television set at the coverage of MLK assassination and listened to the disparaging comments that were being made by my own parents...
Ever since I stared in horror on the Black & White TV as young black women and children were being hosed down by police..and I wondered why...why...why...
Seems like forever but I feel we are almost at the mountaintop...all of us...Black, White, Asian, Native American...all of us...
Signed White middle aged baby boomer woman for Obama and passionate to reach the mountaintop of peace...

5. How beautiful your post is.
You write my sentiments exactly. "We are not a White America, or a Black America, a Latino America, etc, etc, We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" - we will someday get there. If not in my lifetime, then hopefully in the lifetime of my grandchildren. When Obama is elected as our President, we will be ON OUR WAY to that Mountaintop.

From another baby-boomer woman AMEN & HALLELUJAH!!

6. I have dreamed of this, too.
I am also a white, middle-aged 'boomer woman, who remembers as a child of 6 or 7 wondering why a thirsty little black girl couldn't drink from a fountain I had just drank from. I think of this speech every time I see Obama talking all over the country, and wish Dr. King could be here to see him.

We will get to the promised land, all of us together, although some of us will be dragged kicking and screaming (re: Palin rally attendee who screamed "'cause he's a n*****!")every step of the way.

12. "And so I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything.
I'm not fearing any man.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."

That's the rest of it. Practice that.

13. "I'm not fearing any man."
A quote to remember when the opposition has nothing to offer except fear.

21. We... are already there... the only question remaining is, where are "they"?
The beautiful thing about the Democratic party is that it crossed the river Jordan and is now in the Promised land. The sad thing is that many others are still lost in the desert being devoured by snakes.

Obama holds dreams for everyone. I think once he wins he will have the country behind him. The country wants him to be a great leader. America will win alot when he is elected because he will improve our country image. It was wonderful to already vote early. In the primary I voted for Biden but am so happy to support but of them.
