Alaska's Getting Back a "New Sarah" - Be Afraid
From Celtic Diva http://divasblueoasis.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=232

Either I'm friggin' psychic or I just...*ahem*...understand divas.

I posted THIS DIARY http://divasblueoasis.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=230 earlier this morning and included this line (yes...I'm quoting myself...how diva-ish of me):

"...the thing that strikes me the most about this clip is the little window we get on her temper...her obvious exasperation with the question. In my years working with musicians and celebrities, I've seen this before...she is acting like a diva who's been told that she must do something because it's part of the contract, but she doesn't feel she should have to and how DARE we ask her!

"It allows us to see first hand that attitude of entitlement that's been clearly reflected in her actions...the State paying for her kid's travel...the wardrobe. Some people have been loathe to believe that "our Sarah" could do those things because she's been so good about hiding that part of her personality from the public. However, the rigors of the campaign, the frustration with their lack of success and the exhaustion they must all feel is causing some of the "real" personality to leak through the cracks."

About 2 hours later, there was a really interesting piece on CNN that said basically the same thing:

"A second McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign.
'She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

'Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.'"

I've been talking about this a lot lately, having seen the indicators in her Administration's reaction to the Veterans for America report on the Alaska National Guard (yeah...yeah...I'm self-quoting again): http://divasblueoasis.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=186

"The fact that Campbell and Palin would react in this way is unbelievable and outrageous! It causes me great concern for her return to Alaska. Will the plight of veterans in this state go from a tragic issue we must all work on together to a blot on her resume for higher office that she must explain away or sweep under the rug?"

So the question is: Who or what is coming home from the campaign?

--------------------

A question we're ALL wondering about here.

1. Whatever. She's an older Lindsay Lohan - about to discover what the word "hype" means.

2. Blue, you can be sure you won't be getting the
Sarah that left for the big time campaign trail. She's tasted what it's all about to have thousands chanting her name, press wanting to know what she has to say about stuff. For your sake I hope she has a lot more gaffes in her before she returns to Alaska.

3. One week and a couple of days and one of us is going to Alaska ... If she's elected let's all go
join the AIP.

5. Not really.
Petumenos is being as careful about leaks as Branchflower was -- but that report worked out well, so my hope is this one will, too, especially since Petumenos has Branchflower's report and all the confidential stuff in hand. The only thing that's been added that I know of is Sarah and Todd's depositions, so I don't see how the outcome could be much different. Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll perjure herself. That would be cool.

6. Yikes!
I sympathize, but - PLEASE, take her back! The rest of us high-information voters do not want her. Now OR four years from now. OR anytime after that.

I ran afoul of such a creature in one of my jobs. Without knowing her beyond a simple and rather benign introduction, I just suddenly got this very strong vibe: "uh-oh. Here's trouble." It was the cock of the head - upward and kinda in-yer-face as if to say "I Am Here. Don't get in my way." Much to my later discomfort, I wound up being correct. palin arouses the same sense of alarm and dread in me that the little so-n-so back then did. And she too knew the value of a short, tight skirt.

10. It's really been alarming the way she's presented herself
down there. Now everybody here is realizing how we severely we have been "duped" over the past two years, and we're pretty mad about it. We have a local public TV show here called "Anchorage Edition" on Friday nights where a moderator and three media folk, of different political persuasions, get together to talk about issues, and I was amazed last night to hear how seriously everyone has turned against Sarah, talking about how this has been THE most difficult administration to get documents from (especially surprising since she came into office promising "open and transparent" government), how what we're seeing now must be the real Sarah and how cleverly she fooled everyone up until now.

In Alaska she is really "damaged goods." She can't possibly be prepared for how bad it's going to be for her when she comes back here.

7. Side note: look at the scarf she's wearing.
It's a quiviut scarf. I'd know that fiber anywhere (one of my faves and a real dream to spin and knit with). Here's the link to the Palmer farm's store: http://www.qiviut.com/store/index.cfm?target=NACHAQS

Not cheap. Handknit smokerings (nachaqs) are $175, and if it's a scarf, you're looking at three hundred bucks. If it was given to her as a gift to the governor, it's interesting that she's wearing it on the campaign trail.

It IS wonderful stuff, but you are right -- very, very expensive.

13. I'd bet she didn't get it a Niemen Marcus.
;)

I have an Orenburg shawl that was handspun and handknit in Russia (took a knitting class from the importer). Well, two of them, actually. The one from Skaska Designs is really high quality. I love it. I wear it all the time, and I can totally understand wanting to wear a quiviut scarf all the time, even if it doesn't really go with the outfit. Still, a bit odd.

11. We're tired of insufferable.
We have insufferable Ted Stevens, insufferable Don Young, and now insufferable Sarah Palin. I want to see them ALL gone.
