To Kill a Mockingbird in 2008
When I read about the white girl making up the story of the black man assaulting her I thought of To Kill a Mockingbird. Where Mayella Ewell says a black man ( Tom Robinson) raped her and most of the people in the town automatically blames him because he is black. I had hoped we as a people had moved past this type of thinking.

1. The difference is...
someone went to jail today, and it wasn't the black man.

2. That is a good thing.
But I believe most in the media automatically believed her or wanted to believe her.

13. I saw something positive, a police department who did their Job
A town the didn't jump to conlusion, yes the Media pushed it, but the people directly envolved in the case did the right thing.

I also saw two African American Women incharge of the investigation.
The dumb Heffer inadvertantly did a great thing
she proved how far we have grown as a nation.

She also help to put the final Nail in McLame/ Failin Coffin
as if they needed the help

4. I think that it was the usual MSM toadies, the McSame follks who pushed that story.
I believe that most of the public, who even heard about it, reserved judgment, or like many DUers, did not believe it from the getgo.

5. And the police pursued the holes in her story, and didn't
just run out looking for the mysterious black man.

6. I think Harper Lee would be proud that this story ended up the way it did...

One of my all time favorite pieces of literature....author...and film! Harper Lee was incredibly brave to share her vision with us at that time in history...

Even named my puppy Atticus Finch!

9. Well, but we SHOULD take seriously allegations by women of sexual assault.
It looks like the police did their job. They didn't sound like they believed it. They probably noticed her story had pecularities to it. They hear allegations like these a lot, and they get a sense for true allegations vs. false ones.

The system worked in pretty short order. There will always be nut cases around.

The Republican bloggers, and McCain, jumped on it and believed it automatically. I think that was because they were predisposed to believe something that could mean good news for them. Just like we are predisposed to believe a poll showing Obama ahead by 10 over a poll showing him at a tie.

14. It was the claim of POLITICALLY motivated sexual assualt that stunk.
It was the notion that a mugger would give a POLITCAL speech during a robbery.

It was the after thought of mentioning sexual assualt, as part of an inconsistent pattern of false disclosure.

this story had as much to do about real sexual assualt as a fyling pig.

This woman damaged women with real assaults and real stories to report.

This woman discredited real victims, tried to discredit an entire race, and an opposing political party.

Equating this POS with a true victim is a dis-service to all real victims who suffer muggings and sexual assualts.

It also createsd an atmosphere rife for racial violence and played into historically ugly sterotypes and our hideous history of lynching.

15. Yup. Thought of that yesterday, To Kill a Mockingbird
the best line from that film, "Stand up, your father is passing."

All I could think of was elegant, graceful, intelligent Barrack Obama.

Stand up, a true leader is among us!

10. Not even Michelle Malkin believed this
because it was so transparently phony. If you can't fool Malkin, you can't fool anyone.
