I Just Voted In Maine!
I feel good. I cast my ballot for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, for Tom Allen for Senate and Chellie Pingree for the House. I did voted today because I'm going to be on the phones and driving voters to the polls on election day. All of these were things I expected.

What I did NOT expect is that I'd have a big'ol lump in my throat as I did. I first voted in an off year election in 1973. I've voted in 36 straight elections and in 9 Presidential elections. This is the first time I've ever felt emotional about it.

I believe that our country is about to make a BIG step in growing up. I believe that the lunacy of the republicans over the last generation + of our history has finally gotten the public to the point of saying "ENOUGH" and sending the extremists home for good. I believe that the young people are energized so much that all of the "Survivors", "American Idols" & "Big Brothers" that can be thrown at them will never stop them from participating in ACTIVE Citizenship. I believe that the far right's continual campaign to discourage the next generation of young people from caring and doing is about to have a RESOUNDING repudiation.

Most importantly I believe, for the first time, that we will be able to pass on to our children a better world than we have today.

For years, we have been told by the right that our vote doesn't matter, won't make a difference and that all of the political people are crooks soe the results of elections won't change anything. I believe that they're going to get majorly spanked, and that a totally bankrupt of ideas and corrupt ideology is going to have to scramble for ideas to get their credibility back (which I hope they never do).

I have never felt so damn good about a vote. WOW!

PEACE!

PS. Has anyone else here noticed that neither McSame or Palin(comparison) have said one word of consolation about Toot? HMMM.

1. About your last question -- Yes, I noticed. Such a lack of class.
You know if McCain went to visit an ailing family member, Obama would have issued a gracious statement.

McCain and Palin are absolutely despicable.

2. I had believed that the republican party...
...deserved to be landslided out of office. I still do believe that, but I also believe that McSame/Palin(comparison) nave earned that ALL ON THEIR OWN!

3. Definitely. I'm amazed at what a low-life campaign McCain/Palin are running.
It's breathtakingly bad, nasty, and dishonest.

5. I know what you mean about feeling good about a vote. I recall
thinking, when Bill Clinton and Al Gore were at the convention accepting the nomination, standing on the stage with their wives - how presidential the group looked, and it was exciting.

Now, a mere 16 years later, here we are again. This is good!
