OK, Andrew Cuomo is now hands down my pick for AG in an Obama administration
AIG says it will freeze millions of dollars of payments to former CEO Martin Sullivan and other top executives, according to an agreement reached with New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

Sullivan, who left AIG in June, was due to be paid about $19 million as well as other benefits.

Cuomo is currently investigating AIG for "unwarranted and outrageous" executive payouts after the company received billions of dollars in rescue money from taxpayers.

1. I'm sorry, but you're nuts. Cuomo made a racist statement against Barack during the primaries
Barack Obama doesn't seem like the guy that would reward someone like Cuomo. After all, Obama is "shucking and jiving" his way to the White House, at least according to Cuomo.

Besides, Obama is going to reward those loyal to him like Eric Holder. He was deputy AG under Reno and is an advisor to him now. With John Edwards out of the picture, I think Holder will get the nod.

2. Why the insult? The person posting the OP may not have heard about that.
All you needed to do was inform him or her.

13. It would be nice if Du-ers reserved epithets for the other side. Heaven knows why some feel obliged
to smack down people who are essentially on their side. We could all do worse than to REALLY take some cues from Obama, but, oh well.

16. Maybe it's a guy thing?

There's a book called "You Just Don't Understand" -- about the different ways men and women communicate. It explained to me, among other things, why my sons and their friends seemed to like to one-up each other with insults.

Maybe their aggression is just more open than women's. Obviously, women hurt each other, too. But I think in general they're less likely to hurl insults as a way of bonding.

3. I think that was his Dad that said that
I don't think it will be Holder. I think Spitzer has a better chance to get it than Holder

4. Nope. It was he, not his Dad, who made the racist comment.

Not Spitzer, either (and "it was he," IS grammatically correct).

6. Mr "shuck and jive" Cuomo? How soon we forget...
Edited on Thu Oct-23-08 07:51 AM by Essene
I personally wont forget all the clinton surrogates and their race baiting.

Some things just cross the line and shouldn't be easily forgiven. Can i forgive him? Sure, but I will not forget what happen and he has to earn that forgiveness.

Yes, i realize a lot of folks on DU were kinda oblivious or in denial about all that happened back in January... but as a New Yorker... there are quite a few folks i hold accountable for absolutely disgraceful, immoral and disgusting behavior. That includes my Senator.

7. It is during times like this that I want to slap Spitz. He would have been a shoo-in for AG.
And, in my opinion, would have truly exposed all the corruption and criminality of the Bush administration. He has that dog-with-a-bone prosecutorial ethic.

Double damn.

than enough of that, IMO. I guess we could argue that the same could be said of AG Bobby Kennedy, but Joe was right. Bobby was eminently qualified for that slot--and just about anything else he attempted.
