I predict Barack Obama will pretty much destroy hate radio.
and I highly doubt it will be through the fairness doctrine.

Barack Obama is going to take an awful lot of shit from those guys, the election process is just an appetizer. Look how he is. Cool, calm, confident. Not a kneejerk in sight. After a couple years of watching the grace and dignity that is the Obama and Biden families, hate radio is going to be so crude and offensive to all but the few diehards that they will tune out. Bad ratings will kill off the public bloviating.

I predict.

6. Two words for you: Digital Switchover.
They did it for TV, they can do it for radio too.

Mark.

4. My prediction: He'll tighten up the FCC media ownership rules.
The media companies will be forced to sell radio stations (and TV stations and newspapers) and the media oligopoly will be broken up.

At that point, more small owners will come in, and a lot of them will find they can make money with progressive radio.

Also, when ownership rules are tightened, the oligopolies will no longer have the luxury of being able to buy out progressive stations just to take them off the air, or own radio stations that play nothing but Hannity, Rush, Savage and O'Reilly over and over and over and over and over - the ratings just suck rocks, and while a big media company with right-wing leanings and money coming in from other enterprises might be able to do this, small companies cannot, thus their radio stations will have to make decent money.

Sure, righttard radio will still be on the air, but they won't be able to completely dominate, and they'll have to make it more interesting and less offensive to attract an audience.

5. EASY way to get rid of Hate Radio.
Mandate a hasty switch over of the AM broadcast band to digital-only broadcasting. Our market may not be typical but according to the ratings as many people listen to all the AM stations combined compared to just listening to the #1 station on FM.

Still want to listen to Limpballs, Insanity? Sure - buy a new $200 radio...

Mark.

8. that would be nice, but I doubt it
there will be tons of stuff for them to blame on Obama, and hate radio will have plenty to work with. The real question is how long before they start to talk about impeaching him.

9. I think there hay day is way over...
They will hold on for a few more years and then the older folks who listen to radio because they are use to it will slowly fade away and the market will never again be dominated by syndicated radio stations...

Look what happened to broadcast TV when cable finally came into it's own...

12. Hey, please remember that Obama is a professor of Constitutional Law
Professor and soon to be President Obama understands the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution. Apparently some posters tonight don't.

I hate right wing radio too, but I love the Constitution more. I will defend ANYONE's freedom of speech.

PS. Yes I am a card carrying member of the ACLU for more than 30 years. Why do you ask?

15. I listen to these asshats every day...
An Obama presidency will boost their ratings by leaps & bounds.

They will keep the base fires burning & stoke the flames of hate for ratings.

These sleazeball neocons honed their teeth on "liberalism" when they were in the minority. If Barack wins, they will be back in their home element -- breeding fear and mistrust of anything that doesn't resemble Mom and apple pie.

18. That would be nice
but like most things nice- it isn't realistic.

Hate radio- like Wall Street greed, can only be reigned in through responsible regulation.

And their toadies are going to lap it up like Rum Punch.
