How much did you spend on your wardrobe?
My wardrobe cost around the following:

1 black striped suit, 44XL $300
1 gray suit, 44XL $150
5 pairs of slacks, 34x34 $150 (~30 each)
3 pairs of jeans, 33x34 $60 (~20 each)
1 gray dress shirt, 17, 35-36 $45
2 white dress shirts, 17, 35-36 $50 (~25 each)
7 ties $105 (~15 each)
3 belts $60 (~20 each)
6 polo shirts, large $90 (~15 each)
30 t-shirts, large $300 (~10 each) -- a hell of alot I know
2 sweatshirts w/ college logo $80 (~40 each)
1 pair dress shoes, size 13 $55
1 pair tennis shoes, size 14 $30
1 pair flip flops, size 14 $15
3 pairs shorts, size 34 $50 (~16-17 each)
3 pairs gym shorts $30 (~10 each)
2 gym shirts $20 (~10 each)
more socks than I can count ~$50
11 pairs boxers $110 (~10 each)

Grand total $1750

Sarah Failin spent 85.7 times what I did on my wardrobe. Dang. What about you?

1. Hee! I just spent $120 on a sweater vest! hahahaha!
I've never had one before, and wanted to give it a shot. It's cashmere, so the price isn't quite as outlandish as it might initially sound.

9. In general, women's clothes and accessories cost more
For example, a man can get away with two dark suits and a couple of white and blue shirts and a couple of ties and no one would bat an eye.

But if a woman would wear the same outfit within a few days, tongues would start wagging.

And, who knows how they dress in Alaska?

Still, they saved a lot of money. Minnesota does not levy sales tax on clothing, otherwise the tab would have been higher. I think that Chicago sales tax these days is 10%.

16. And court..
Last time I wore a suit was when I went into the courtroom in the boonies of Humboldt County for a DUI, wearing a three piece suit. I looked so good, all the other unfortunates there thought I was the public defender and came running up to explain all their shit to me.

The judge loved it and let me off easy. Gotta wear the suit to court. :smoke:

20. The Republican convention, then, fit into one of these categories
right?

One thing about suits, for both men and women: they cover much of bodies imperfections and when you are standing on a podium in front of thousands people in the hall, and several millions on TV, some with HD, even a fit body like Palin's can benefit from a good cover.

15. Oh, $200,
5 pairs of jeans/khakis - $10 each, $50
10, or so, tops, avg, $8 each, $80
Two pairs of shoes that I bought, $25 each $50
One skirt and blouse, $20, yeah, they were on sale

That was bought over a period of 3-5 years. Once you get a certain age, I don't know why you need to buy very many new items. Buy nice clothes at Ross and you're good to go.

17. This year, maybe $25 to $40
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 11:19 PM by rebel with a cause
Over the last twenty years, because I am still wearing some things that I have had that long, I have no idea. I buy my clothes large, when I gained they fit tighter and when I lost they were looser. Right now they are comfy because they are really big the way I like them. :7

I am not a slave to fashion. I wear what I like and like what I wear. Comfort is important to me and everything else I ignore.

18. Except for socks and undies, I buy almost all my clothes at thrift stores.
I hate paying full price for anything, but I do draw the line at road-tested panties. Eeesh.

I haven't paid more than $5 for jeans in years; usually more like $2-3. Same for shirts - $5 would be an EXPENSIVE shirt. The only time I buy new shoes is every two years when I get a $50 subsidy for work shoes. I occasionally shop the clearance racks at Shopko or Target but only if I can't find something specific that I need at the thrift stores (or garage sales). I cringe when I see the prices people pay for new clothing. I've found flannel-lined Eddie Bauer jeans for $2; a Liz Claiborne skirt for $3, brand new with tag still on; Christopher and Bank sweaters for $2-3; GAP jeans for $2; Eastland shoes for a quarter a couple weeks ago at a garage sale (best buy of the autumn so far!)
The only new item of clothing other than undergarments I've bought this year was my Obama/Biden t-shirt :-)

19. Lemme see.... in the last TWO years I've purchased....
8 pairs of blue jeans @ $15 each = $120.00
6 pairs of slacks @ $25.00 each = $150.00
4 pairs of men's shorts @ $20.00 each = $80.00
4 pairs of tennis/walker shoes @ $30.00 each = $120.00
2 pairs of dress shoes @ $50.00 each = $100.00
2 sports jackets @ $80.00 each = $160.00
2 leather jackets (sorry PETA and vegans) @ $150.00 each = $300.00
4 sweaters @ $30.00 each = $120.00
1 really good suit = $300.00
4 sweatshirts @ $30.00 each = $120.00
4 belts @ $15.00 each = $60.00
4 ties @ $10.00 each = $40.00
20 pairs of socks @ $4.00 each pair = $80.00
2 8-pair bags of sport socks @ $10.00 each = $20.00
2 polo shirts @ $15.00 each = $30.00
10 pairs of T-shirts @ $10.00 each = $100.00
8 pairs of shirts @ $15.00 each = $120.00
various men's briefs, boxers, and white t-shirts = $100.00

So, that's about $2000.00 spent in nearly TWO years for my wardrobe.

21. wardrobe
I spend nothing, my wife dresses me. I know that I spend more on chrome for the motorcycle then all my clothes. I have the same leather jacket I bought for 39$ in 1967 Kehoe, made in America.
