Is Pat Buchanan a bigger idiot than Sarah Palin?

Rachael Maddow has been having a "conversation" with Pat Buchanan. He's defending Palin by all means possible, including attacking Franklin Roosevelt.

Buchanan is not (necessarily) stupid, but he has a history of defending the indefensible. (As far as I know, he's no longer celebrating Hitler's birthday.)

If you missed Rachael's show, try catching the rerun tonight. Watching Buchanan having a shit-fit while defending Palin is well worth the cost of the electricity it takes to run the TV.

That's what her real secret is, and why she is such a favorite of old white insecure guys - she's non-threatening. He's a dirty old man. My Dad got like this when he was in his 70s. He'd get some crush on some tacky woman on some TV show and then would yell at me if I'd say anything about her. Like it mattered.

I think when they get up in age and their mind is not all there (my Dad had dementia) I think they live in a dream world where these women are their sweeties. I don't think Pat is all there.


Edited to add: A big clue is that he thinks Rachel is jealous of Sarah's looks. Is that really valid in a discussion about how qualified one is to be VP?

Buchanan is a nitwit, but he is at least capable of completing his objective, which is to present the republican/conservative view as balance.

Palin does not have the cognitive skill to do that, much less anything else.

Also, as much as I despise the views of Buchanan, I don't believe he's a fake. His opinions are legitimate in that he's thought them through, as wrong as I believe they are. He's been stretching lately, but he doesn't come close to the vapid lack of intellectual curiosity in all things, including political, historical, constitutional and just logical ideas that most people are able to look up or work around with far more clarity and understanding than this shopping addicted, self-serving prop (and I'm exerting deliberate restraint, which isn't easy).

Buchanan is what he is, and he can back up his arguments, sorry as they are and misguided as they are. Palin can't back up a dad blam thang.
