Positive Thought For The Day Thread
I love our candidate. I am once again PROUD TO SAY "I AM AN AMERICAN!" I haven't been able to say this in what seems like forever.

Please join me in posting a positive thought about our next president. Post your favorite Obama Picture.
Just look at our guy:

6. Maybe all the positive folks
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 12:18 PM by RoseMead
are out working on the campaign? :shrug:

Here's my positive thought: Obama inspires me, and I don't say that very often. He has to be one of the bravest people I've ever seen. He is articulate and genuinely intelligent, and I believe that he really does care about all Americans, even the ones who hate him and wish him harm. I love that he is willing to listen to people who *don't* agree with him, instead of surrounding himself with yes-men. I love that he is a communicator and a negotiator.

President Barack Obama will be one of the best things ever to happen to this country in my lifetime. He may be one of the best things to happen to America ever.

:)

edited to add: Your photos are wonderful, especially the ones of Senator Obama with Michelle and the children.

Life may change, but it may fly not;
Hope may vanish, but can die not;
Truth be veiled, but still it burneth;
Love repulsed,--but it returneth.
- Percy Bysshe Shelley, Hellas (semi-chorus)

To-day is not yesterday: we ourselves change; how can our Works and Thoughts, if they are always to be the fittest, continue always the same? Change, indeed, is painful; yet ever needful; and if Memory have its force and worth, so also has Hope.
- Thomas Carlyle, Essays--Characteristics

Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
- Margaret Mead

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.
- Jacques Anatole I. France (Jacques Anatole Thibault)

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.
- Heraclitus of Ephesus

But the nearer the dawn the darker the night,
And by going wrong all things come right;
Things have been mended that were worse,
And the worse, the nearer they are to mend.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,
Tales of a Wayside Inn--The Baron of St. Castine
(l. 265)

Time destroys the groundless conceits of men; it confirms decisions founded on reality.

- Cicero (Marcus Tullius Cicero) (often called "Tully" for short),
De Natura Deorum (II, 2)

“The future will not belong to those who sit on the sidelines. The
future will not belong to the cynics. The future belongs to those who
believe in the beauty of their dreams.”---Paul Wellstone

7. I will be proud to be able to say "Our President" again.
It been eight long years since I have said that phrase. I am also looking forward to my daughters having pride in the president, the oldest was only a month old when Bush stole the election from Gore. It will be a great day when President Obama is inaugurated.

13. A photo of the President in my house
This will be the first time, ever, that I have understood why a person would PROUDLY have a photo of their President mounted in their house. And I will. I want a photo of my President hanging on my living room wall!!! Which photo should I use?
