McCain's ceiling is at 42-43 %
The key statistic that comes out in the national polls is that McCain cannot cross the 42-43% ceiling. This is his natural ceiling of support. He has been running for President for 10 years and that is the maximum number of people that are going to vote for him. On election night, with the eliminiation of 'undecideds' he will max out at 46%.

There is no volatility in McCain's numbers they are stuck in cement and with a couple of short bounces when he confirmed the nomination and had the convention he has been stuck at the same numbers. The only question is how many undecideds can Obama reach in the closing days of the campaign. McCain and Palin are doing their best to help Obama increase those numbers.
