What REALLY makes me mad about B/C exploiting 9/11: They FAILED
I've been steaming over this as the spin gets louder. How on earth does BushCo get away with making their failures in the "war on terra" a campaign issue they win on?! "Kerry wouldn't be on the offense! Our Preznit is strong, he keeps us safe!"

But he DIDN'T keep us safe. 9/11 was a colossal failure of this administration, and now they celebrate it as if it were the crowning glory of their term.

Remember the script before 9/11? I do. It was all about "ICBMs from rogue nations" and reviving "star wars" (paying off defense contractor contributors). I argued for months with people on another board saying ICBMs are NOT the main threat, terrorism is. I was called a "scare-o-crat," I was accused of "inventing terrorist bogeymen," I was told they all had a bridge to sell me, etc. etc...

I didn't have any special knowledge, I didn't have the memos and briefings the Chimp ignored, or the Hart-Rudman report they ignored, or the terrorism expert they ignored, but there was enough there to see we were at greater risk for a terrorist attack than for an ICBM to sail over from Iraq. Tom Daschle gave a speech about defense appropriations in August 2001 also urging more counter-terrorism spending and warning against BushCo's renewed emphasis on star wars.

Even as information has come out about how they failed, and the extent to which they ignored the obvious, they continue to exploit their failure as if it were a success. And even as information has come out about how they've effectively *strengthened* rather than weakened terrorist networks -- by attacking and destabilizing Iraq, by fueling hatred of the US, by refusing to use full force to go after Al Qaeda -- even now, they have the audacity to run on "9/11" and the "global war on terra."

When will the truth be told in a way the American "Moran" population will GET it? General Clark said it so clearly, and it's way past time to hammer this point harder. They did NOT do all they could to prevent 9/11, but were caught with their pants down. And they most definitely did not act responsibly or effectively afterwards -- consequently, contrary to their assertions that "the world is safer" we have seen devastating terrorist attacks throughout the world, and know that it could happen here again.

This reeeeally steams me. 9/11 should be what ruins this administration, not what propels them forward.

1. Yes, and let's talk about Dubya's response on the day of 9/11
After all, HE brought it up. He went into that school knowing that the first aircraft had already crashed into the WTC. Now, even if it were only an accident (as he later claimed he had thought), don't you think that that in itself would be enough to cancel a freakin' photo op??? What were YOU doing on 9/11? Was there any red-blooded American out there who could did not immediately run to the radio/tv/phone to find out whatever they could? In some accounts, Andrew Card was quoted as saying, "Oh, and by the way, Mr. President, an aircraft has just crashed into the World Trade Center." BY THE WAY????!!!! WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE? In the whole examination of 9/11, I never heard anyone ask the obvious question: what might have happened differently that day if the president had taken the reins of control immediately and got on the phone with NORAD, the FAA, Tenet, etc. Tenet knew immediately that it was a terrorist attack. Sorry, I'm ranting.

3. Don't you think with the August PDB Bush could have connected
the dots? Ignorance is not a leadership quality!

5. Exactly. Bush didn't have a F**king clue.
When I see his face on that video the expression looks for all the world like a frat boy who's mad at his buds because they gave him a crib sheet and the then professor switched the exam. Of course he wasn't paying attention in class the day that he got the briefing on potential terrorist targets within the U.S. He never had to do a single thing on his own his whole life long. His entire life history has been one of screwing up and being bailed out by someone.

7. I never thought about that until just now
That is really odd, now that you mention it. NO thought of his family.

2. It is frustrating, I can't even imagine how frustrating it is for the
families of 9/11 to still not have the answers. To have Bush/Cheney stonewall the committee, then refuse to testify, then agree but not under oath or in public, and then to use the graves for political gain. I can't imagine what it's like to lose a son or daughter in either Afghanistan or Iraq and have to 'wonder' why Bush doesn't attend any funerals or allow Americans to see the depth of loss? Yes, Bush had ALL those warnings, ALL that information at his fingertips that NO OTHER person had and STILL he couldn't connect the dots when he choose to go ahead with his photo op instead of acting like a leader.

America CAN send a HUGE message to Bush in November, by voting for Kerry in such LARGE numbers that Bush cannot ignore he has let America down and we will NOT ever fall for his Bush-shit AGAIN!

I never voted for him, I didn't like that his father lied, I knew the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

4. You Make a Good Point
Sometimes you can too caught up in an issue when you suddenly see the forest that you couldn't see with the trees in the way. It's easy to fall into the point-counterpoint with Bushco on the national security/terrorism issue. But you point out a fundamental issue that a lot of folks have been looking past.

How is it that * and Crashcart cover themselves in their self-proclaimed glory with their response to 9/11 and then the Iraq war, and shamelessly claim that they deserve reelection? They would like for us to forget all about the PBD, the deer-caught-in-the-headlights look and the seven minutes of frozen inaction at the Florida school. We can't let 'em slide on this one, especially after they pulled the SBV lies stunt. Everything is fair game....and the undeniable facts are there.

Bush has been handed free passes by the media and others for the past four years. No more passes. Time to answer for 9/11.

By the way, I saw an outstanding bumper sticker today, and I just can't let it go. The sticker said "BUCK FUSH" (major hint: transpose the first two letters of the words).

....and this was in central Oklahoma!

Classic!
