6. Go Tar Heels!
I really hope Obama takes my state! PPP has Hagan beating Dole as well.

PPP is usually pretty reliable in NC and VA.

I believe they also got it right during the primaries.

8. I am in disblief

I will be going down to NC next weekend to visit family (Republican, neo-confederates, racist, with money), I am sure their heads will be spinning. I wont engage them in political discussion. But thankfully, they don't appear to represent the entire tarheel state.

14. Great news!
A 7 point lead is probably a bit too high, but the I like the internals of the poll.

===========================================================
Independent voters continue to move toward Obama in droves. He now has a 51-33 lead
with them. He’s also now up to receiving 82% of the Democratic vote. Staying over the
80% threshold there would almost certainly ensure a victory in North Carolina.

McCain now leads among white voters just 55-39, an edge that’s not nearly enough given
Obama’s 92-6 lead with black voters. George W. Bush won about two thirds of the white
vote against both John Kerry and Al Gore in North Carolina.

16. do you have some internals ?
It's great news but we have to be cautious. We were excited about the suffolk OH poll a bit earlier only to discover that their Dems +14 internals were a bit odd.

So there was movement to Obama.

21. Internals
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 01:19 PM by knowledgeispwr
Dems 48%, GOP 37% and Indy/Other, 15%. That's a pretty good break down for NC. Dems have had a significant registration advantage to GOPers for awhile here, and in this year, new registrations have had a strong Dem tendency.

White 75%, Black 21%, other 3%. The Black vote could be as high as 24% in the final vote totals considering the enthusiasm.

"as she has now in PPP's last seven surveys of the race." Start packing, Liddy. Oh wait... you don't live here.

23. I hope that little snot at Jerry Falwell's school in VA is reading this poll.
I was listening to a radio interview of this student from NC who was trying to register to vote in her college town in VA to help McCain win Virginia. The interviewer asked her, wasn't she worried about NC going to Obama? And she replied, "Oh, no! McCain will EASILY win NC."

Ha! HaHa! HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!

24. This is another one I find hard to believe.
A couple of weeks ago there a poll showing Obama 8 points ahead in my state of Missouri, and subsequently every poll has shown it continues to be a dead heat. Now maybe *those* polls are generally not correctly gaging his true support (I sure hope so), but this strikes me as similar--a sudden huge advantage in a battleground state. I just want it to be TRUE!!

28. I live in NC and Obama is definitely surging ... it goes way beyond yard signs....
We noticed McCain signs in our neighborhood early on, and recently the Obama signs have sprung up all over.

We early voted Saturday and the majority of the people seemed to be upbeat, and there were lots more Democrats working the polling area than Repubs.

ALL of the TV Ads being run by Repubs are Negative... and the local polling shows that none of it is working. Hagan has held a lead over Dole for months, and Dole has thrown everything but the kitchen sink at her(including a large chunk of her own personal $) and yet she cannot close the gap.

NC is definitely surging to Obama in the Cities... what is surprising is he is also reaching many rural areas as well.

I will be surprised if Obama does not take NC....

29. This is ridiculous....
Sample: D: 48 R: 37

C'mon folks. This poll is crap. Would love to believe it but would like accurate information rather than headline grabbing polls.... The problem with PPP is they do not weight correctly. If this poll is weighted, it brings it down to a tie, which is about right. Rasmussen will have NC numbers I believe, tonite at 6pm....there, you will get an accurate snapshot, which i suspect will be close to a tie, which is still amazing, considering its NORTH CAROLINA!
