mrs. unblock makes for a rotten passenger. sorry, hun, it's true.
there's something about not being in control that makes her very nervous. *I* was nearly killed when i was a passenger in a cab, but i got over that. why mrs. unblock can't stand being a passenger, i'll never understand.
nevertheless, when i drive, she's miserable and makes me miserable. i'm always driving too fast, too slow, too close to another car, too much time in someone's blind spot, too close to another car she insists has a drunk driver in it, or i just plain take the wrong route home. as if i can't find my way home. WITH A F*CKING NAV SYSTEM IN THE CAR!
anyway, point is, keeping the peace is vastly more important than insisting on being the driver. so mrs. unblock does the driving. she's not a better driver than i am, but i'm a better passenger.
my long-winded point is this: republicans make everybody miserable when they're the out-party. they made everyone feel like the country was something to be ashamed of, they made people feel like our president wasn't honorable, they made people feel like we were being run by disrespectful crooks.
they were lying, of course, but that's neither here nor there. point is, when republicans are in power, the image that gets passed along the airwaves is that america is standing tall and we have a moral man in the white house. when a democrat is in office, the image they portray is that america is going to hell in a handbasket.
i think people might well know that they're lying, or at least just plain wrong. but america doesn't want to endure four years of bashing and smearing, and that's what's in store if kerry is elected. not because there's any truth to it, but simply because that's what republicans do when they don't control the oval office.
i'm not sure how to counter this. it's not an explicit topic, but i do think it's out there and that people think this.
