Maureen Dowd makes a good point today
Why didn't Poppy Bush give a speech at the RNC?

The Dems had Carter and Clinton speak.

"Mr. Bush even tried to implant in our heads that he is the son of Reagan. He didn't give his dad a speaking slot, though the last two Democratic presidents spoke in Boston, and he spent more time in his speech lionizing Gip than Pop."

1. Poppy Bush's foreign policy is more like Kerry's
Poppy Bush's foreign policy is a 180 from Shrubs. Also Poppy Bush always battled a wimp image and we all now who Shrub likes to be seen. Throughout the convention Shrub tried to get Reagan's glory to rub off on him and for him to be viewed as Reagan reincarnated to save our country. GOP even said they were going to win this one for the Gipper. Does Shrub after stand on his own two feet?

7. Possibly because they didn't want Shrub Sr's preppy New England accent
sullying their Southern fried knuckle dragging fest. Too much of a contrast with Zellot's real and shrubya's fake Southern accents.

8. For that matter, where was Tom Ridge?
America is safer....bu tthe guy who's in charge of that effort has to be hidden from the public because otherwise every comedian in America mentions "duct tape" (and some did anyway).

Where was John Ashcroft? Where was Donald Rumsfeld?

Where was Condoleeza Rice?

Where was Colin Powell? We know he wasn't in Greece, becaus he's now become the first US Secretary of State not welcome in our ALLIES' countries. (Even during the worst of Viet Nam Kissinger could visit other countries.)

For those pissing and moaning about how badly the Kerry campaign is doing....he's not having to hide his team from the public. Chimpy is.
