Suck It Up, People! Quit Yer Bitchin' And Get To F*cking Work For JK!!
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 12:23 AM by stopbush
What's with all the doomsday shit? JFTDC! I can't believe the milquetoast naysayers on DU since bush's pathetic - PATHETIC speech! Suck it up and get behind Kerry BIG TIME!

Kerry faced bullets and bombs for our country. Now, he's facing brickbats thrown by a bunch of America-hating fascists, puny criminal pig-shits who will cry and run back to their mommies if we just stand up to 'em and give 'em a hard jab in their fucking faces. Yet I'm seeing a bunch of cut-n-run, it's over, America deserves bush if it votes for him BULLSHIT on this board.

Kerry needs us NOW, We need Kerry - NOW! This is not the time to get discouraged. This is the time to get it on! This is politics, people, and every second you spend wringing your hands about the polls and the rubes and the media and the bullshit is a second that you COULD be doing something REAL to get Kerry elected.

Here's a proposal: add up the time you're spending on DU, or watching TV, or watching the grass grow or wherever the fuck you do every day, and pledge to dedicate 25-50% of that time from now until the election doing something TANGIBLE to get John Kerry elected. Volunteer somewhere. Call a friend and talk about Kerry. Put yourself in a public place where you'll have the opportunity to talk up Kerry and talk down bush. Stop at any pro-Kerry table you see and offer encouragement to the volunteers - get them a sandwich or a drink. Help with voter registration. Call your local Dem office and ask, WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP RIGHT NOW?!

And if YOU can't do that, then YOU can't expect John Kerry to win. He needs more than our votes and our good thoughts and, most of all, our cyber-masturbation on DU. He needs US, in the flesh, for real, kickin' ass and gettin' the job done.

I won't be spending as much time here as usual for the next 60 days because GOD DAMMIT, I'M GOING TO DO SOMETHING REAL for a change.

Rant over.

6. Well done, Sergeant!
Lee Ermey would be proud of you ... well, he would if he was a Democrat. But we may enlist his wrinkled old gunny-sarge ass yet.

I've been "down and giving 20" for some time now. Mainly, I reprint strong anti-Bush articles and make sure they get into the hands of undecided voters and people with Freepish family and friends. And I use 14-point-type for some of them, because lots of the readers are elderly. Don't think it hasn't been productive.

I'm also signed up for GOTV, giving people rides to the polls.

As you've said, there's plenty of work to do, and we've got 60 days.

Sixty days to save America.

With even a 10% commitment, we could do it in a week.

7. True words. Put the anger to work.
The Flying Monkeys convention and the bullshit polls and consequent rending of garments got me so pissed off this morning that I went down to the Kerry campaign headquarters and asked to be put to work. I did data entry for most of the day, and it was kind of tedious, but it made me feel a whole hell of a lot better than just sitting at my computer and reading all the gloom and doom. And I'm going to keep going down there as much as I can to do as much as I can, because every little effort from every person makes a difference, as corny as that sounds. For every hour you spend fretting and moaning on the internet, donate an hour to the campaign. You'll be contributing to the essential task of shrub removal, and you'll feel better, too.

8. Why bother?
Nothing I'm going to do is going to help a man who refuses to shoulder his own load. Nothing I'm going to do is going to help a man who begs his opponents to play nice after his opponents smear him. Nothing I'm going to do is going to help a man who doesn't go after the weak points of a candidate. Nothing I'm going to do is going to help a man who says things like "I still would have supported my war vote" after the debacle in Iraq. I appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to work, but all the work by all the volunteers in the world will do no good if the public perception of our candidate is poor.

At any rate, there's no connection between thinking Kerry is a putz and working hard. I'm sure there are many people on here who both criticize Kerry and work hard for Democratic candidates, both national and local. It's the nature of the beast here. It's good there are people like that. I'm one of them. I can, however, completely understand any Democrat who doesn't want to bust their hump too much for Kerry. He sure as hell isn't busting it for us.

11. Rather than trash your post, name call or worse,
I'd ask you to take one day this week - one day - and visit your local Dem HQ. Check in with them and express the feelings you expressed above. That effort will hardly bust anyone's hump.

Who knows what might happen?

10. I signed up to help (online) and..................
I also signed up in person at a Kerry table, volunteering to help, and have never been contacted. Do they even want my help?? And, no, I AM NOT A TROLL, just having a moment of disillusionment.

12. I had the same problem
but after my experience with data entry today, I concluded that they have so many people wanting to volunteer that they can't keep up with the process of contacting everybody. So if you want to work, just show up instead of waiting for them to call you. I assure you that they DO want your help, and they will have lots for you to do.
