What are we going to do with the fucking Repubs after this election?
Because they're not going away, that's for sure. Independents/undecideds may very well be won over, if Obama gets the US functioning again. But the racist repubs will always be there, and they will be worse because they didn't get what they want. (God forbid McCain wins, and they do get what they want.) The rigtwing hate machine is going to be cranked up to 11 after the election, and they'll be frothing at the mouth, regardless of how the country fares. I fear more attacks like the one on the UU church this summer.

It's not the OLD pugs we have to worry about - They're already lost.

We gotta saturate the atmosphere with progressive values, so that their KIDS will break from the herd.

5. continue to make them irrelevant.
that's the worst thing you can do them. They were hoping for a 4th Riech, a hundred years domination of america.
As we've seen, like cockroaches, they scatter aimlessly when the light gets turned on.

politicians are out for themselves. If we continue to make it clear we don't like republicans by not electing them, under ANY circumstance, they will either have to wither and die on the political vine, or they will change themselves to match the electorate.

20. Worry
One could spend their whole life worrying and it may increase their chance at survival
if the worry is focused on a defensive solution. Seeking an offensive choice can
often lead to an offensive air. And that, fellow human, can help obscure the elusive
option between fright or flight, when if found, can keep all parties healthy.

instead of sticking up for them. You can tell who they are, too - they're the ones that yell "Kill him!" at McCain rallies.

24. Attributing one "kill 'em" to an entire lot always binds me up
I suspect it bleeds from my upbringing and lack of hate, but it is hopeful to think
that the default impression of any individual will be better than any prejudice
notions.

I will never defend any party for its actions unless they are for the betterment of humankind.

25. In case you haven't noticed, it's more than one
And it's more than just at campaign rallies. There are people that have acted on the hate that the rightwing spews out, and if you think they will just go away you are mistaken.

BTW you are the one defending a party here, not me.

There's no use trying to whitewash. Some of your friends ARE undoubtedly dangerous. Worrying about those is rational.

8. We don't have to do anything.
Have you read some of the right-wing sites? They are expecting some kind of armegeddon when Obama becomes president. They will be shipped off to gulags and be turned into soap and lampshades and other such craziness. AT THE VERY LEAST they will soon see that they were wrong.

They have set expectations for Obama being not just a disaster but a terrorist who wants to destroy American, that Obama almost can't go wrong. How can they complain about the usual things people complain about, when they are expecting a total catastrophy.

Those freeps who do actually make more than 250K per year can hardly whine about their taxes going up a hair, if they were expecting the end of the world as we know it!

What will be more disappointing for them: 1/ that Obama turns out to NOT be Hitler reincarnated 2/ that the rapture hasn't arrived? Either way, it will be entertaining for us and give us something to talk about since we will no longer have an idiot president to complain about.

36. But seriously. Universal single payer healthcare would do a lot.
If the Democrats would just push that through, the wonderful feeling of security knowing that we can go to the doctor when we're in pain, without worrying about costs, will help solidify their leading position for years to come.

I still remember that feeling from years ago. It was great. The care wasn't fancy, but it was right there at a neighborhood clinic, and as a Resident Alien, I could walk right in too.

16. Keep an eye on them. They hounded Clinton for EIGHT YEARS. Their media did the "Wag the Dog" on him.
They "investigated" his and his wife's financial dealings, at tax-payer expense.

THEY ARE NOT ONLY NOT GOING AWAY; THEY WILL BECOME MORE VIRULENT and DETERMINED.

After all, they DID get the WH in 2000.

27. Undercut the Republican base and build on their "statement" of values
The big Republican leaders don't care about Joe Six pack, Joe the unlicensed Plumber, or any other guy making less than $75K a year.

There is no reason not expect Republicans to rail for investigations that make the Clinton years look like child's play. But if the Democrats have a Senate supermajority and the House have a veto proof majority, then the kinds of investigations should be limited in scope and direction.

It has been true for a number of years that Republicans vote against their interest because of these 'cultural' issues. Why not spend the next year and a half building this 50 state strategy speaking to these Red State voters in their language like the Colorodo and Pacific West states governors have done?

This campaign is only the first step in building a new coalition for the Democratic party but also a governing coalition. In the primaries, it was suggested that maybe the DLC had too much say in how Democrats raised money and governed the country with the Third Way that allowed (or responded) the country to drift rightward. How about taking some of the these eggheads and African Americans charging them to work beyond this campaign and do the social networking that has transformed the nature of this current election season?

Sure, some big wig Republicans will talk shit for the ages, but why not let their brand die out like the Whig Party?

28. and actually
as * has it right now, the senate and house have very little authority. Neither does the DoJ.

so, technically speaking, Obama could leave those things as is....and wield the power to squash their bs.

however, as our side actually stands for something, Obama has promised to review all of * signing statements and reverse the ones which violate the constitution. Yeah, that means all of them.
