Wurzelbacher said he works under Al Newell’s license, but according to Ohio building regulations, he must maintain his own license to do plumbing work.

He is also not registered to operate as a plumber in Ohio, which means he’s not a plumber.

Mr. Wurzelbacher said he is working on taking the Ohio plumbing contractors’ license test.

Mr. Wurzelbacher’s notoriety has raised the ire of Tom Joseph, business manager for Local 50 of the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, who claimed that Mr. Wurzelbacher didn’t undergo any apprenticeship training.

"When you have guys going out there with no training whatsoever, it’s a little disreputable to start with," Mr. Joseph said. "We’re the real Joe the Plumber."

Mr. Wurzelbacher said he objects to Mr. Obama’s plans to raise income taxes on incomes above $250,000. He said he makes no where near that much money but he would not say how much he makes or if he ever expects to make $250,000. Court records from a divorce show Mr. Wurzelbacher made $40,000 in 2006.

You don't need to be "licensed" plumber in Ohio to be a plumbing contractor. In fact to apply for a license you had to have worked in the trade for a continuous 5 year period. Further, you ONLY need a license to do commercial plumbing. You can argue that Ohio's licensing laws are stupid, but before you throw anymore gas on the fire, get your facts straight, because the more you throw garbage like this out, the more the media eats it up. You'll soon have some paper somewhere getting someone from the OH Dep't of Commerce to coment on plumbing qualifications. Fight the battles on your own terms, not the enemies...

Legally speaking, Wurzelbacher isn’t a plumber, because he isn’t licensed by Toledo, Lucas County or the state of Ohio. A representative of the Toledo Building Inspection Division said a plumber must be registered with the state and only then can apply for a city plumbing contractor’s license.

Wurzelbacher said he worked under the license held by his boss, Al Newell of Newell Plumbing and Heating Co. of Toledo. Newell is a licensed plumbing contractor in Toledo, records show. But anyone working under Newell should have a journeyman’s plumbing license or an apprenticeship license, officials said.

Building Inspection officials said Newell was responsible for making sure that anyone working under him was licensed. The Toledo Plumbing Board of Control may consider sanctions against Wurzelbacher or Newell, officials told NBC affiliate WNWO of Toledo.

What are the odds that he might know Senator McCain personally from his Arizona days?

A check of FEC.gov and opensecrets.org reveals that all donations under the Wurzelbacher family name since they've been put on line are to Republican candidates. It may well be that Samuel Joseph is related to the Wurzelbachers that have given 35,000 to Republicans in the last couple of decades.

A check of Ohio's SOS division of elections reveals a similar pattern: only Wurzelbacher donations are Republican.

No donation under Wurzelbacher appears in the Arizona SOS records.

Arizona DU'ers need to look into this guys time in Arizona and see if there is any McCain connection while he was there. Did he plumb the McCain ranch by chance?

Ohio DU'ers need to find out who this guy's dad, uncle and brothers are and see if they are the ones donating so much to Republicans in Ohio. Did the Ohio Republican Party put this guy up to this? Did the RNC?

He was stationed in Alaska in the AF. There is a Doug Wurzelbacher living in Wasilla-possibly related? May be related to Robert M. Wurzelbacher,Jr, who is related by marriage to Charles Keating. Has a lien against his house for failure to pay taxes. Hope that helps.
