TV Tonight: Presidential Debate or Baseball Serious?
The TV conflict tonight is between the Phillies vs. the dodgers and the debate between Obama and McCain. I’m fairly confident John McCain won’t be hitting one out of the yard, and that Barack Obama, as steady a performer as there is will win this debate, but it is still a quandry over which event to watch tonight.

1. Watch the ball game the debate is not important.....
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 01:53 PM by Jack from Charlotte
only the pundit's reaction to the debate and the post debate polls are important.

Also, if no fireworks occur in the 1st 15 minutes.... channels will be changing.

We've all seen this movie...twice. Obama is smart and cool and the other guy is a short snarling 95% IQ putz.

I wish there was a college football game on. I watched Troy beat Fla Atlantic during the Palin-as-idiot debate.

6. I like that line
"We've all seen this movie...twice. Obama is smart and cool and the other guy is a short snarling 95% IQ putz."

The IQ part is a bit overstating it, though.

5. As a small Phillies fan,
When I get nervous with the debates, I will quietly flip to the Phillies/Dodgers game, but then I will get nervous for that.

13. not true
it will be a lot less than 1 year because whoever wins will lose to Tampa Bay in the World Series.

20. Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Didn't Tampa remove the "Devil" from their name because of pressure from religious wackos?

27. really? I'm not sure
I know they switched it to "Rays" this year, but I never knew the reason.

There are other teams with "Devil" in the title, like the New Jersey Devils hockey team.

Very interesting if true.

28. Karma for our insensitive team names and/or mascots?
It's as good an explanation as any.

Meanwhile, I shall hand out my spare Rednecks For Obama stickers and then go home and plop down to watch McZombie call me his friend about a dozen times per minute.

GoBama!

32. haha could be
my best friend is an Indians fan, and after they lost to Boston last year and the Braves didn't even make it to the playoffs, we joked about that.

should be a good debate. :toast:

31. As a Red Sox fan
My joy and enthusiasm all throughout 2004 and 2007 after being down 3-0 or 3-1 is non-existent this year. We just don't have the heart and the pitching to make it happen this year.

I really hope to be eating those words.

17. I've got some NetFlix movies coming today.
1. I already know who I'm going to vote for.
2. I already know McCain is an asshole.
3. It would be entertaining to watch McCain blow a gasket and meltdown into a puddle of blind raging goo right there on live TV, BUT...
4. If that happens, I'll catch it on YouTube tomorrow, which is better than sitting through 90 minutes of watching the old fart fumble around while waiting for the meltdown to happen.

So, I choose watching a movie instead.

33. TV tonight: Debate or Project Runway finale???
See how ridiculous it is to ask that question.

Sports are not important -- win or lose it doesn't make a damn bit of difference.

I'll be taping the finale to my favorite show and watching the two candidates debate.
