To All Freepers, President Obama Will Have All of the Powers of the Patriot Act
You remember the Patriot Act. You remember how you used it to tar anyone who opposed it as unpatriotic.

Well, don't look now, but Obama will have ALL of those Patriot Act powers. Be careful about who you talk to on the phone or which books you check out from the library.

Irony is a bitch aint it.

34. This is so wrong. Freepers, we are not like this. We will not
support the misuse or the dismissal of our Bill of Rights.

It is too precious to us.

We will use it to help you, and we will protect your civil rights.

We are the Americans who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you as we rebuild the dream of an equal society. It is time that those who think they have the only answer are shown that though their way may be good, it must be considered with others in a Democracy.

This is who we are. This is who Barack Obama is.

The wealthy and the well connected will always make their way to the top. They don't need democracy and some don't care to promote it. It is for the hard working middle class and the struggling poor who's rigtht's can only be assured through the participation in democracy and the right to make thier voices heard through equal rights for whom we will fight. We are all equal in a democracy.

We are the Americans who are "the melting pot" .

When one person or whole classes of people are not heard and not respected there is oppression, war,or people go their own way and separate. All of which makes the country weaker.

We are Americans. All of us, and we will make this country the strongest, freest, safest place to stand as an example to the world. Americans don't just look down on others, we look down and help them up.

Walk with us. We will see you. We will listen to your ideas and together we will lead the world in
restoring Democracy first to the US, then if they wish, and with their help to the world.

Having a little fun at a bully's expense may be fun. But then who is the bully?

39. No we're not like that
Nobody is really serious here. We all want the Patriot Act repealed. We're just letting off a little steam after eight long years of hell. Lighten up a little. We don't need to be serious and saint-like all the time.

45. The argument...
...that we are not like this doesn't comfort me. While I do believe that liberals are generally more decent, the temptation is still there to misuse this power. Perhaps Obama wouldn't do it directly, but rest assured that at some point someone would. That is why it must be a priority of the next president to reinstate the constitution. It would please me to no ends to tap every freeper and Republicant, but I know it would be wrong. We must work that the people regain some trust in the government. Revoke the Patriot Act and incarcerate the criminals from whose sick minds it came.

58. I agree. The changes that * has made are bad no matter who
is in charge. Unless they are legally nullified, there is a cause to worry. After the election this should be our goal.

Of course I know this thread is harmless, but when it is addressed to those who have been pushed to believe we are the enemy, anything that alienates us is harmful to a new unified America.

My post was a sincere hope that we will not be thought of as, rubbing they're nose in what may be our victory. As wonderfully good as it would be to have a person in charge who represents the welfare of all the people, the RW will be hurt and in shock and worried that the junk they have been feed will become reality.

I would like them to know, from me, that we are aware of their adjustments and we will work to be kind and we will not stop them from being who they are. Their individual rights are as important as our own. We believe in all of the Bill of Rights for all of our citizens.

Not only that, but they are not without power, and we will work with them. It is way past time that the wild run that corporate wealth has had is over. When almost evey part of our Country has been recked, it's time to change the party in charge. This will be a chance to restore and renew the basics of our Constitution.

When someone is hurt and they are teased. They don't want to hear. "Oh, lighten up."

I'm just thinking of them and how to bridge our differences.

I'm under no illusions whatsoever about Bush/McPalin's "base." But I STILL want to see the Patriot Act repealed and the Constitution restored, for the sake of ALL Americans--even Freepers, even though they don't deserve it.

Along with getting rid of Dept of Homeland Security, TIAA, and all the rest of the mechanism of a police state. First of all, I trust no one with that sort of power, and secondly this country needs to advance forward. Sadly, judging from his FISA vote, I doubt that Obama will do any of this.
