1. The race isn't close anymore.
Thus they have to make it seem close somehow. Well, Obama's black so his lead must not mean anything.

not being over already

17. If they can make the election about race, rather than the issues
the advantage goes to McCain.

It's all about helping McCain win and providing a cover for possible election fraud.

10. Because somehow they just noticed the black guy might win?
Funniest thing heard today...on Tweety's Sunday morning show one of the commentators mentioned how alot of the crazy right wingers simply never believed Obama could in fact be elected. Like hello people he was only up in the polls most of the summer before Phalin came along and then he bounced right back. The utter stupidity makes me want to laugh or cry.

But guess what? It's NOT!

15. Cover for possible election fraud
If Obama has a 6 or 7 point lead and mysteriously 'loses', they have their excuse.

16. So it will appear credible when they try to steal the election again.
The Bradley Effect will explain away any difference in the polls and the election results, and they think we're stupid and complacent enough to A) buy it and B) sit and allow it to happen again.

Fat fuckin' chance, assholes.

18. did you see the dude on CNN tonight?.....
.... sorry, cant remember dude's name, anyway, they had him on there to discuss how it's possible that folks are telling pollsters that they'll vote for Obama, but when they go to vote, they wont be able to vote for "a black man."

But when he was finished he said, "but look, the issue that will decide this election is the economy."

I thought to myself, "yep ........ next topic."

I live racism every day, but it will NOT be an issue, at least not enough to have any real effect, in this election. Period.

20. The "Bradley Effect" is what they will use to eplain
the drastic difference between the polls and the election results if the repukes decide to steal another election.

Since Obama is blowing McSane out in current polls , the "Bradley Effect" is the only way to explain Obama losing this election.

25. I've never heard of this before
I live in a southern state. My family are all racist republicans and proud of it. In fact I dont know many people who hide their racism all that well down here. I see it more likely that racist people say they are 100% McCain but when alone in the voting booth they will vote Obama cause they are running out of money.

33. 26 years ago
The 1982 California gubernatorial election.

What's often forgotten is that the decidedly non-black Jerry Brown also lost his race for US Senate on that same day.

28. Just some guys pretending to be smart. New theme for the half-wits that pass as "journalists".
Bradley Effect is mostly an unproven a poli-sci myth...a "theory in search of data" according to one wag... but maybe they think it makes them look "in the know" if they mention it.

29. It is part of the setup for the repukes to try to steal the election.
This way, even if Obama is leading in the polls, they can say that due to the "Bradley effect", it makes sense that the counted votes would show he lost...or so they think..

34. I don't have a problem with it.
The more things like this are talked about, the less likely they are to manifest themselves as real. Racial biases are more unconscious than conscious most of the time, and if people are aware of the unconscious possibilities of their brain, they are more likely to counteract them and use reason instead.

The more people are aware of the potential for a Bradley effect, the more they will think about not letting themselves unconsciously create one.
