Independent Ad Challenges Obama’s Record With Sex Abusers
Latest Committee for Truth in Politics TV spot alleges Obama voted for legislation as an Illinois state senator that allowed for the early release for convicted sex offenders.

Says majority of sexual abusers in prison committed their crime against a child, uses several stills of children playing before showing Obama near a prison cell and next to a kid crossing the street.

Don't ever think they have gone as low as possible. They will always find a way to dig down deeper into the mud.

1. They tried this against an Ohio senator in the 1980s and it backfired big time.
McCain has already been repuked by his own party for suggesting that Obama supported sex education for kindergartners. This is another desperate lie that will repulse independent and undecided voters.

5. Voinovich tried it against Metzenbaum and failed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Metzenbaum

In 1988, Metzenbaum was opposed by Cleveland mayor George Voinovich. Voinovich accused Metzenbaum of being soft on child pornography. Voinovich's charges were roundly criticized by many, including Glenn, Metzenbaum's old-time rival in the Democratic party and then Senate colleague who now came to Metzenbaum's aid, recording a statement for television refuting Voinovich's charges. Metzenbaum won the election in a landslide, even as George H. W. Bush won Ohio's electoral votes by 11 percent.

6. God...Can't They Get a NEW Idea
All these commercials are just a rehash of every bad campaign tactic the repugs have used since 1980.

Talk about looking desperate.

7. This is not an Independent Ad in actuality...
About who is at the address listed for the above group...

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/3/132237/132

<snip>
It also appears that the current tenant at the address listed is currently an officer of the Republican Party in Wake County. The Wake County Republicans conveniently also have offices at 102 Commonwealth Court. I won't list this person's name, but a quick search of a reverse directory and checking the names of the congressional district officers will give you a match

9. North Carolina group, also spreading smears against Dole's opponent.
These people are descendants of the Jesse Helms club. There are no lower forms of slime.

8. The bill they are referencing is SB 485. I think it was signed into law in 1999.
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 04:50 PM by soccermomforobama
The thing about the law is that is dealt with "good time" for CERTAIN convicted sexual offenders. The only convicted sex offenders it pertained to were those whose victim was under age 18 AND was a family member of the convicted.

Obama was the only one who voted against it. No offense, but I would have voted against it too. The law is too specific and in my eyes should have included ALL convicted sex offenders whose victim was under the age of 18 with no regard to whether the victim was related to the convicted.

Here is what I have been able to find on the law:

"Senate Bill 485-removes "good time" behavior benefits for county jail inmates if convicted of criminal sexual abuse, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, or criminal sexual assault in which the victim was under 18 years of age at the time of the offense and the victim was a family member. Rep. Edgar Lopez, D-Chicago, and Sen. Ed Petka, R-Plainfield, were the bill's chief sponsors. The bill is effective immediately. "

Just when you think the Republicans cannot get any slimier.

13. Let me get this straight....
So now they want me to believe that Barack Obama is a taxing liberal elitist islamic communist terrorist who is pro-pedophile, and anti-troops?

With all the mud they're throwing at him, it's no wonder McCain is still wondering who the "real" Obama is. Poor guy is confused and blinded by his own bullshit.
