Smerconish grills Obama: Ayers, guns, Mumia, Phils
-----

First, he asked about how some supporters of Republican John McCain keep using Obama's middle name: Hussein.

Obama explained his father was from Kenya, so he ended up with "an Arab-sounding name," just as Obama wound up with a Midwest accent because his mother was from Kansas.

"What you know is they're trying to distract from the economy," Obama said of his Republican opponents.

With the country going through the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression, "we better be talking about that in these next four weeks," he said.

Smerconish asked if gun owners, like himself, had anything to fear from an Obama administration.

"No, I am a strong believer in the second amendment," Obama said. "I believe it's an individual right."

6. Smirconish has been surprisingly decent in his coverage of this
campaign. I remember after Imus was fired from MSNBC, Smirconish was one of the potential hosts auditioned and did a few days in the morning time slot. At that time I thought he did little more than parrot GOP talking points. But since he's been a guest on the evening shows lately, I find I can actually listen to him even when I disagree, he seems to be thinking for himself these days.

2. Uh oo..
He does, however, back measures that benefit public safety, like supporting ways that bullets and guns can be traced back to purchasers.

Here comes the "bullet registration" bullshit again.. and Guns CAN easily be traced to their purchasers, someone needs to tell Obama about that.

3. Smerc is one of the best Republicans in the country.... seriously
I have a whole lot of respect for Smerc.

If all "right-wing" radio was like him, there wouldn't be a push for the Fairness Doctrine.

7. I'm going to ::::GACK::::: give some kudos to Smirkonish
I didn't hear his radio show. I saw him later of Hairballz. He mentioned the interview and took a **decidedly** pro Obama stance against whomever was on with him. He was even more anti McCain than he was pro Obama.
