It's Fear v. Hope
(I think Clinton used that in 1992)

The shrub campaign is all about fear; "9/11, 9/11, you are afraid, very afraaaaaaaid", whereas Kerry is presenting a message of hope, which is a more intellectual thing.

Anyway, fear is more easily generated, and will have a more dramatic effect on the polls.

So, that's what we're seeing with the latest polls, just plain fear.

Kerry has to show that people needn't fear his presidency, has to show a vote for Kerry is hope for the future.

Personally, I fear a shrub II more than anything, but I don't know if fear is a weapon Kerry can use.
