Why has CNN gone rightwing?
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 04:11 PM by Tarheelhombre
It seemed like in the past they were more balanced, but this year it seems transparently pro-Bush. Does Ted Turner have any influence on the network still?

1. Ted's been out of the picture for awhile.
He's considered at times buying CNN back from Time Warner.

6. Because Faux got better ratings
There's a saying. The comics are the most read part of the newspaper. So do we make a newspaper that's nothing but comics?

7. GE owns CNN
And Time Warner Life.
Ted Turner has not had any influence in it sense he lost it in a hostile takeover in the late 80s. I think he has a small percentage of the stock and a title

10. Nope, Ted Turner is out.
CNN made a corporate decision to go head to head with Fox for the conservative viewers.

They probably figured that more progressive people wouldn't abandon them for Fox even if they whored for the right. So far, it hasn't helped them. The right wingers are sticking with the real fascist thing (FOX) and not a cheap substitute (CNN). Liberals are drifting away from CNN. I hope they go belly up.

I won't watch CNN and I won't watch Fox. They both are losers.

I wish MSNBC would replace Joe Scarborough with a liberal.

It would make a good alternative if it did.

Anyone have Rick Kaplan's (MSNBC producer) email address/

20. I just don't understand why CNN is doing that
The Fox News viewers are lost forever. Becoming Fox News 2 only forces the viewers that remain to either turn the TV off or try out MSNBC.

19. AOL cooked the books before the merged with Time Warner
For instance they were counting those discs they send out in the mail as assets on their books.

Another reason is that cable news loves war all the time as it increases their viewership tremendously.

21. Fox News is about maxed out on its audience now
Yes, Fox News ascended by being the place the rightwing gets its news, but that market is saturated right now and the audience won't get much bigger for rightwing cable news. So, it makes no sense that CNN tries to be a "me too" Fox 2 Network.

22. It beats the hell outta me.
I have emailed them at least 4 times to plead with them to give we Liberals a fair shake. We ARE a MAJORITY out here. Instaed, they have chosen to try to beat Faux News and THAT will never happen. CNN's ratings have dropped BELOW MSNBC's! Doesn't that tell them anything??? OBVIOUSLY not.

23. CNN's Carlos Watson gives his Bush acceptace speech analysis.
"Bush delivered on giving details on his agenda for the next four years". "Delivered"? Not by my account.

Funny, Carlos, gave not details on the details.

the war to make the world safe for Israel. He has been scathing to any guest who dared oppose the war.
