Psst... check out electoral-vote.com

We don't even *need* the "barely Dem" or "tied" states... with strong and weak blue states Obama has 277 electoral votes!

OMG I WISH THE ELECTION WERE TODAY!!! I can't take much more of this!!! :runs screaming out of the room:

I too wish the election was today. I'm worried about all the voter purging stories I'm hearing though.

24. pretty far apart, really
On October 9, 2004, electoralvote.com was predicting Kerry 280, Bush 248.
It ended up Kerry 251, Bush 286.

On October 9, 2008, electoralvote.com is predicting Obama 349, McCain 174.

So they could be overpredicting Obama's total by several dozen EVs and he'd still win it.

7. yep - noticing Chuck Todd & John King's reluctance...
...to move VA from "toss-up" to "leaning Obama." It would put Obama over 270, and they don't want to do it.

17. I'm not sure, actually

Most of those predictions are based on telephone polls -- i guess that people who already voted would be lumped in with the "likely voters" even though they are "definite voters"! In any case, when we voted it was predominantly African-Americans there, and almost EVERYONE had the Dem sample ballot. It was really exciting! :D

13. Me Toooo!! haha
- a bit from down the page that is especially fun to read:

"Republicans appear to be heading into a disastrous election that will usher in a very bleak period for the party.". Our tally (on top of the page) is now a 247 to 187 breakdown (with 1 tie), but the reality is much worse for the Republicans because many close races that are probably going to go Democratic have not been polled.

I was just reading their unemployment rate is so high they're in danger of running out of Unemployment Insurance money. And these people want more? Do they know about McCain's whole "lettuce" thing? Do they know he said Americans won't work for $50/hour?

22. In all likelihood, they don't know

I think many Republicans vote that way because their parents did... their friends do... and they lack the motivation to learn about the issues. This is true in rural Ohio, for sure -- people are voting against their self-interests and they have no clue. :grr:

Obama will win, whereas John McCain would have to win ALL of the swing states. They showed the swing states as Virginia, North Carolina, Nevada, Florida, Colorado, Missouri, and Ohio.

House Dem 247 GOP 187

If it works out this way the Democratic party might just be able to save this country from the fascist rethugs that hijacked it eight years ago.
