I think Obama should try to take Texas
He's only down by 9 points and I think if he really tried he might be able to take it. Not only would it make it a guaranteed landslide it would send a damn clear message to repugs that we've had enough of their bs.

5. Where? Noriega is within 7 points of Cornyn in TX-SEN.
Where could the money be better spent? You can't take it with you.

6. Battleground States?
But, if we could force McCain to spend his dwindling money in TX, then that might help in other states...

9. OK, I see your point. I don't want to seem Pollyanna-ish,
but I don't see too many more battleground states where Obama is only 9 points behind. He's either ahead in most states or WAY the hell behind, Utah style. I'm genuinely curious which states he should campaign in next.

3. I think he should too

Although I feel like it's out of reach :(. If he can make it competitive, and possibly snag it, I'll be happy.

4. The thing to remember though
Is that 9 points in Texas isn't necessarily 9 points in Rhode Island. The percentages are way off in voter counts. It would be a lot easier to take on one of the smaller Southern States, or maybe go after one in the Rockies (besides Colorado).

7. As a Texan I agree, he should make a few campaign stops
During the primaries he drew extremely large crowds, with a lot of people being turned away. If he came here and hit just a few cities I think it could really benefit voter turnout. But even if he doesn't come I think there will still be huge turnouts for him.

We have large ground troops in Tarrant County. We have been registering people up until the deadline on Monday.

8. No, he needs to concentrate on the swing states and lean Obama states. That's where the win is.

10. On NPR today they were mentioning that he is campaigning in TX, forcing McCain's hand
to spend money where he really doesn't want to spend money.

11. If he had two months, maybe. But now, I think he'd
better put his time and money into Florida and Ohio.

13. Unlikely to flip this time
and I still say we focus our resources primarily on states we can take and/or are likely to take. We want to deny McCain a victory - I say make sure we have VA, keep at it in FL, OH, NC, IN, and MO.

But I agree that he should make one stop in TX before the election. It would be great to get a crowd there riled up.

TX will be ready in time. I'm thinking the next election or 2016.

16. Rolling in and drawing a giant crowd would send a national message
I'm not talking about a big focus but a big stop and maybe a more rural town hall deal in Texas could pay off more that is expected. The talk of a northern Democrat drawing big in Texas this late in the campaign would get some nice chatter.

18. That would be a sign of epic landslide imminent
Texas is an expensive media market, so if Obama moved into Texas that means his internals show an epic landslide.

20. I don't agree, he needs to maintain/expand his lead where he's ahead by a single digit.
I would love for him to take Texas, but realistically there's only three weeks left in the game. It's just not going to work out for him to do after Texas when his lead is so precarious. A few points lead is not enough, even if pundits are estimating O just needs one State, we need as many as we can get because we really don't know what voting and purging and every other factor might do to our numbers.

It would be against our and O's best interest to aim for Texas. Leave it alone.
