12. In the last election Bush was distant cousins with Kerry

and I was distant cousins with both of them -- something like a 13th cousin ten times removed! Probably half of America is related to them as well. I had more common ancestors with Bush than with Kerry. I might be related to Obama and Biden too, maybe even Palin or McCain. I haven't had a chance to check my genealogy with theirs yet. Fun hobby, genealogy.

poeple who have ancestry in a specific geographic region 300+ years ago are probably about as likely to be related to one another as not; I'm related to Barack Obama, too (we both descend from a French Huguenot named Duvall who emigrated to Maryland in the 1600's...and so do Harry Truman, John Glenn, and the Duchess of Windsor).
