Big Loser of Last Night's Debate? Sarah Palin
Her career is all but guaranteed to be over on November 5 because she will be forever tied to the Epic Fail that is the McCain campaign.

3. She's been tossed off the bus and backed over
and doesn't even know it yet.

She'll start running her own future campaign soon
and whatever's left of the GOP will hunker down
with their Northern Idiot Muse.

4. I disagree, she's positioning to become the darling of the far right.
If Straight Talk Johnny goes down, she will throw the old coot under the bus faster than a hockey puck over slick ice.

The defeat will be in reality based on the fact that Palin has turned off the independents and conservative Democrats that McCain needed to win, but, as we all know, Republicans live in their own reality. McCain will be vilified by the right for not being conservative enough and not going after Obama hard enough and Sarah will be leading the charge.

Unless some major undeniable scandal erupts that drives a wedge between her and the wingnuts, she will be a major player in 2012.

17. I think they will become quickly dis-enchanted once the election is over...
And they begin to realize the fantasy they have been engaging in...

6. RE: Disagree
I do disagree, only because I do have a sense of how the Fundamentalist Religious Conservative Far Right Works..My parents were a part of this...my family is full of radical conservative views...(yeah, you guessed it ...I'm the Black Sheep of the family LOL)
So this is my take on it:
They love her, she is their darling....As they see it their entire world view is being threatened....pro-life, rah rah America Bomb Bomb Iran, Convert all countries to Christ, Prayer in Schools etc etc....and so on....They will hang onto their view with their very life...they might go underground for awhile after Obama wins the presidency....but they are in NO means finished off...Sarah Palin WILL be around for a LONG time...Sorry folks but that is the truth....

8. the religious right is losing influence
the Republican Party can't survive with the religious right dominating. especially with time as younger people tend to be more liberal on things like gay rights and that wont change as they get old.

11. Good Points
You make some good points here....but remember it will take years ..and remember Sarah Palin is not that old.....so they will be here for awhile...but they might have suffered the mortal wound....they will however go underground, because those radical views will become (gratefully) so unacceptable they will have to temper their political responses to social issues.

12. I don't think her political career will survive the next 4 years.
Her strength comes from being a relative unknown for the most part but 4 years is a long time. She has problems in Alaska and maybe even in her personal life. She would also have to go through a Republican primary before the next election and they won't be as kind to her as the Democrats.

18. Alan Keyes, Gary Bauer, Ralph Reed, Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan
Yeah, those darlings of the religiously insane do so well in national level politics.

21. True, but even 4 years from now her strange flirting with the audience
will be more pathetic. Now she is a 44 year acting like the worst high school mean girl. She is beautiful, but she seems too old for the role. At 49, I assume it will be less effective.

14. I think the nail in the coffin is what will happen if the investigation doesn't turn out well...
I do believe the report is due out Friday. There isn't much talk about it here, but I'm hoping it won't be kind to Palin.

19. unfortunately the shitstorm is over-rated.
Too many people still love her up here. I don't see how that could be but its true. Look to her being re-elected and around for a very long time. She needs to be destroyed in the minds of Dem's and indies and moderate re-pugs completely at this time. She will never be so weak again.

20. She was one of their best future assets, too. Kinda funny...
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 07:10 AM by Essene
If she had stayed in alaska this year, and spent the next 4 building up her resume, traveling, etc... she'd have been groomed into a VERY SERIOUS contender in 2012.

Thankfully the world sees her for the joke she really is.
