As I posted the other day, Sarah Palin will be speaking in my town this afternoon. So far this morning I have overheard two interesting exchanges that do not bode well for the McCain campaign. I was not intentionally eavesdropping, but my office is situated close to our department secretary, so I often hear her conversations.
The first conversation was between our secretary and a letter carrier who comes by every morning to drop off our mail. He and our secretary often make small talk for a minute or two, and it's obvious from past conversations that both are very conservative. Here is the first conversation:
Secretary: "So, you going to go see Sarah Palin today?"
Letter Carrier: "No, I'm not interested in seeing her."
S: "Me neither."
LC: "I'll be busy watching some paint dry."
They both laughed, and that was the end of conversation 1.
The second exchange took place between the secretary and our program head, who is also very conservative.
S: "You going to go see Sarah Palin?"
Head: "No!"
That was it. Just a very dismissive "No!", and this coming from one of the most conservative people I know.
From their tones of voice it was apparent that the letter carrier sees Palin as a joke, and neither he nor our secretary like her. My program head can't stand her.
If convervative people like this, in eastern North Carolina, see Palin for the joke she is, then the McCain campaign is well and truly fucked.
