Sarah Palin, is Just Joseph McCarthy in Lipstick and High Heels

Dick Cheney and others in the Bush/Cheney Administration are notorious for impugning the patriotism of anyone who questions and criticizes them, especially on foreign and defense matters (which is ironic for a cadre of men who were I guess too patriotic to serve their country in Vietnam when they were called forth).

Anyway, Now McCain (who of course nobody is more patriotic then, I mean George Washington was even likely seen as a traitor when he and John McCain fought alongside each other in the American Revolution), has sold the last tattered vestiges of what he called a soul, as Sarah Palin Saturday evoked 1960s radical William Ayers and the fact that Obama happened to meet Ayers, as proof that he is un-American. McCarthyism, how is that “maverick”?

Fox News:

Palin, speaking at a closed fundraiser in Colorado, was referencing Obama’s ties to Bill Ayers, a founder of the 1960s radical group The Weather Underground. That relationship was examined in a front-page article in The New York Times on Saturday.

“This is not a man who sees America as you see America, and as I see America,” Palin said. “Our opponent, though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect — imperfect enough that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. Americans need to know this. … I think, OK we gotta get the word out. This is in fairness to the electorate we gotta start telling people what the other side represents.”

Hey the 1950s called, they said they want their perky catchphrases and their quasi fascist McCarthyistic tactics back. In the closing weeks of the campaign, prepare for more of this. The McCain/Palin ticket feels backed into a corner because of Obama/Biden’s new strength in the polls, the seemingly endless flow of poor economic news, and the legacy of shame from the current President(s) that McCain aided and abetted.
