7. Considering we gave over 60% of the vote to Dems in the past 3 elections
that would be a great way to waste his money! :D

5. Maine is going to be very important.
Many outcomes involve a 269-269 tie. Two of them are certainly possible: Obama gets Kerry states + IA, NM, and NV. Or, Obama gets Kerry states + IA + CO + NM - NH. If McCain pulls one electoral vote away in Maine, that would make him win in these scenarios 270-268. Obama has a similar opportunity in Nebraska (to pull one electoral vote away), but it would be much harder.

Hopefully though, Obama will win 350+ and it won't matter.

6. It definetly matters.
Given the liklihood of the numbers being so close I'm not that worried, but it's something that can't be forgotten. It all depends on how effective McSame's bullshit is, given all he does is run attack ads now.

11. Not necessarily. It goes to Congress BUT every state gets only one vote...

It's very complicated. Many Democrats would have to vote against the will of their state and risk their own re-election.

20. We would probably win a tie. The point is that if McCain picks off one electoral vote in Maine
it might not be a tie. He might win 270-268.

12. The punchline: Obama's lead in Maine is as big as McCain's lead in Arizona according to the most
Arizona poll and the average of recent polls in Maine.

McCain's chances in Maine are no better than his chances in Michigan, but Maine is a cheaper state to run in and he is trying to recharacterize the withdrawal as a shift when, in reality, it is a simple retreat from Michigan hidden under a fig leaf of a feint toward Maine.

15. Down south here McCain supporters are mostly those fringe funny people you laugh at.
You know, that wacky but lovable neighbor of yours from down the street.

Maybe they're gung-ho for McCan't/Failin' up in Houlton?

22. This is not a crazy as it might appear. Maine splits it's electoral votes by congressional district.
Theoretically McCain could pick off one ECV in Maine. And if the dreaded tie scenario occurs then that single vote could be the margin of victory. Not likely to happen but I am sure that is their thinking. Obama is also trying to capture an electoral vote in Nebraska which also splits.
