Thank you, Gov. Palin
The next time I post with a false pretense of certainty and authority on an issue I little understand, the next time I escape into torpid generalities in a debate instead of acknowledging the specifics, the next time I ignore or misinterpret the statements of others to prop up my own arguments, the next time I gild absolute ignorance with absolute confidence, the next time I start to lose on the facts yet am determined to win the petty personality war, the next time I bluster and provoke with simplistic narratives--I will post this image.

And all of you will love me. :*

2. I cringe remembering that. And I recommend your post.

Well, she regurgitated a whole bunch of facts that they drilled into her at "debate camp". Whoop-di-fucking do.

And then she put on her "ah, shucks, gosh darn it, dag nabbit!" folksy bullshit and winked into the camera. And it made realize AGAIN that there is no way, there is no justification for her to be anywhere near the Oval Office. Not now, not ever.

BTW: thank you for your comment in my thread about Biden. I have to tell you...I've gotten swept up in the "hope and change" stuff. And then Biden did his pandering to the homophobes re: same-sex marriage. It was shameful to see Biden and Palin nodding and agreeing with each other about that "marriage is solely between a man and a woman" shit. Fucking shameful.

4. It is shameful. DU agrees that it is, but given the understandable hypersensitivity these days
A lot of DUers will react strongly to criticism of Biden's same sex marriage comment, assuming the intent is to undermine the ticket or somesuch. I think in calmer moments -every- DUer agrees that one can still be emphatically pro-Obama yet still be -extremely- disappointed by the Democratic failure to stand up strongly for civil rights, even when it's seen as a risk.

3. Palin=Bush
Remember when Bush was always winking at the audience? Remember the cockiness when he thought he was on top? The garbling, the misspeaking, the sparseness of facts? She's Bush in a skirt and just as dangerous.

8. No! She is the love child of a Bush/Cheney union. Folksy yet mean
Incurious yet aggressive

Hockey mom six-packer yet out for world domination

12. She's in a worse position, just because the Couric interviews raised so many doubts
She couldn't hope to answer them all in this debate, and she did not do so.

11. My eternal love to independent voters for their resounding rejection thus far of her schtick
The media pundits seem a bit behind the times in that regard--they still think people are in the care-free "who do I like?" mode of 2000.
