What is your lamest Sarah Palin debate moment?
For me it's got to be, "your plan is to wave the white flag of surrender in Iraq." This is Sean Hannity talking points from 4 years ago. Biden should have killed this one. I would have said something like. A plan to transfer security of Iraq back to the Iraqi government is waving a white flag? Our plan is the same plan that Maliki and bush are implementing. Frankly, I find that to be a really bizarre notion. It's interesting that anything short of staying in Iraq for the next hundred years as John McCain put it spending hundreds of billions of dollars every year is a white flag of surrender.

he was debating McCain. Palin just happened to be on stage with him. He completely ignored her, other than to be gracious to her.

47. That's ok, she wasn't debating him OR listening to him
Proof:

She brought up that Obama voted against funding the troops claiming that it was bad for troop morale. But Biden was the smart man and replied back that McCain ALSO voted the same way as Obama in that vote - McCain voted against funding (mind you for a different reason).

A smart debater would have backed off that talking point because now her opponent just linked her running mate with something that was unpatriotic and lowered troop morale. No need to revisit that again.

But she's not a smart debater, she brought it up AGAIN and again Biden reminded all the viewers that this was the same vote that McCain did.

She wasn't debating him, she was reciting lines she memorized at debate camp and was trying her best to fit them into the questions (or just ignoring Gwen's questions if she couldn't fit them in)

I might have tuned out and missed it, but I didn't remember him telling a joke or them referencing him telling a joke. That comment seemed uncalled for to me, but I might have tuned out. I wondered if that was actually a really effective moment for her either way.

27. Telling Biden his wife's reward as a teacher would come in heaven
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 06:52 AM by mtnester
ummm...very thoughtless since Joe lost his first wife and daughter in a terrible car accident, which came up not long after her stupid gush at the mouth statement.

She was gushing on and on and on about her brother and father and grandpa and friends and teachers are wonderful...she got OFF HER TALKING POINTS with diarrhea of the mouth when she does not really know what she is talking about and made a rambling comment that for most people would have been OK, but was COMPLETELY wrong to say to Biden. Making any kind of "wife reward in heaven" remark even when referring to his current wife, was inappropriate if you even had a shred of common sense. (That would be NO)

My husband screamed at her to stop as soon as she opened her mouth and started "soccer momming" it.

I think I filled my first bingo car in less than 3 minutes.

she was referring to his current wife who has been a teacher for years, and that her reward for being a teacher would be in heaven (FORGETTING OR NOT KNOWING Joe's first wife and little girl died tragically, and it would be inappropriate to talk about ANY wife of Joe Biden and heavenly rewards, whether they were deceased or alive...does that make sense?)

on edit - I put nothing past this woman...she could have absolutely said that to disarm him or as a tactic also.

was "special needs". I'm sorry, but she has NO IDEA of the struggles faced by parents of children with special needs. She's barely begun the journey. There's never enough money for special ed to be done the way it should be, there's never enough funding for assisted living programs, job training, health care, you name it.

She has taxpayer funded health insurance. I'd like to see her lose that and go try to buy health insurance for her special needs child in John McCain's wonderful free market with a crappy $5,000 tax credit. No insurance company would cover her son for ANY AMOUNT of money.

And then for an hour and a half, she proceeded to do just that, basically parroting whatever talking points were in her head at any given moment regardless of whether they had even a tangential relationship to the question just asked.

It was even more precious when the moderator didn't challenge her on any of this.

And yet, Biden still owned her.
