From the Detroit Free Press, Michelle was in Macomb County's very white Clinton Township today:
Michelle Obama had the crowd on its feet at the end of a 30-minute speech at Chippewa Valley High School in Clinton Township that focused on her husband, his ideas and their personal backgrounds.
“Can we do this?” she asked the crowd. The response was, “Yes!” She asked a second time, “Can we do this?” The crowd responded again, “Yes!”
She talked about how every vote counts and encouraged people to vote and to register to vote. She said her husband is the only candidate, who is looking to the future of the nation. She named a few ideas that he had. He’s building his economic plan around the middle class with tax cuts to 95% of working families, creating a health care plan that covers all Americans, has a long-term energy plan, and investing in a comprehensive education plan for children. She also said he’s the only candidate with a time line for withdrawing troops from Iraq.
A statement that got the crowd on its feet:
If people feel the same sense of urgency for change, “We have to get this man in the White House.”http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081002/NEWS15/81002075Happy Anniversary on Friday, Barack and Michelle.
