Questions for the Next Vice President

Tonight, Senator Joe Biden of Delaware and Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska will meet in the one and only vice presidential debate of the 2008 campaign. The Op-Ed editors asked people with knowledge of the vice presidency, the candidates and their records to suggest questions they’d like to hear answered from the stage at Washington University in St. Louis this evening.

1. I'd like Palin to be asked whether she believes the United States is a Christian nation

and whether she believes in the strict separation of church and state. If she doesn't dodge the question, she will either turn off the independents, or she will make her Evangelical base angry. I don't think I've heard Palin be put on the spot yet about her attitude towards religion and the secular state.
