Sarah Palin ad: The Bridge
A buddy of mine wrote an ad script that I thought was worth a chuckle...

“The Bridge”
September 25th, 2008

Recording studio. John McCain is with a female campaign operative and a sarcastic-voiced announcer, who stands at a mike. The woman gestures to a TV monitor and speaks to McCain:

WOMAN: We call this “The Bridge.” It’s a very simple spot.

Innocuous music plays. We cannot see the monitor screen, only the reactions on the faces of those in the studio. McCain watches with mounting horror. After ten or fifteen seconds he says:

McCain: No. No. Turn it off.

Woman: But senator, it’s the emotional reward your voter…

McCain: No. THIS I cannot approve.

The woman shrugs. They all turn away in disappointment and exit the studio.

CUT TO: Television screen in a living room. Over the same innocuous music we see tens of thousands of people climbing over the rails of the Golden Gate Bridge. In close-ups they are seen to be wearing Obama T-shirts.

Soon, they begin jumping. Seen from every angle — in normal and slow motion — it is a virtual rain of people. After 20 seconds of this, a deep sarcastic voice intones:

Announcer: Vote for McCain/Palin on November fourth and you can make this happen of November fifth.

Shots of bodies hitting the water. Then we hear a female voice:

Female: I’m Sarah Palin, and I approved this message.
