Poll question: Who is going to Barack Obama's inauguration?
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 05:08 PM by DainBramaged
I am going to use my vacation days (if they will let me) in January to go. Take Amtrak to DC and watch him stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue waving to us. And taking LOTS of pictures for history.

1. We're working on the logistics, but basically, we'll fly into a boarding state and take public
transportation in, watch Obama, and then go back to the boarding state and jump on the return plane. Quick but worth it!

4. I think Delaware is going to be busy
I may rent a car, I get super discounted rates from Enterprise because of GM so it's a short ride (relatively) from here.

5. Don't worry about the weather. There will be tents etc.
I went to Clinton's inauguration week and it was very memorable. There are a lot of events prior to Inauguration Day which are nice to attend. Weather in DC has gotten milder and milder the last few years, almost no snow last year.

7. Thought the same thing this morning.
I've never been to one, but this morning was thinking, I would have to be there.
Can anyone go? I just want to see Barack and Michelle walk.
Not like bush, who was afraid to get out of the car.
It will be great.

24. Not sure anymore....when Raygun was elected, my husband and I
had gotten a formal invitation to that. But we fought so much about spending the money, that we split up over it, LOL...I didn't really want to go to see Raygun, but had never gotten a formal invitation like that before, and wanted to just see it.

10. It's Going to Be One For The History Books
and a blast at that! The Inaugural balls, parties and celebrations all over the country will be one big happy dance for us and many around the world.

Wish I could go, but I will carry my memories of Mile High Stadium with me until the Alzheimer's takes over.

14. If my best friend doesn't get a gold plated invitation...
then there is no god.
;-)

She held an open house for him last year in NH, which he attended.

AND she served lunch to about 150 people including the media.
Barack Obama ate off of one of her plates.
Me: "Did you save it?"
She: "No, I put it in the dishwasher with the rest of the stuff."
Me: "DAMN! Do you know what you could have gotten for that on eBay?"
She: "Oh go away!"

If she don't get an invite there ain't a dog in Georgia.
As we say.
;-)

23. You know I'll be there.
Sister lives in Silver Spring MD. No problem on this end. Drive down Monday evening, take Tuesday through Thursday off.

Only an impassable blizzard can keep me away from this one. It'll be the first inauguration I'll be celebrating at.

Or rioting.

Take your pick, America.

25. About a month ago I started searching for hotel rooms.
Looks like there aren't very many rooms eft downtown.

I also found a website that said you had to put your name in a pool for tickets along the inauguration route. Do you know if that is the case?

44. For me it's a $144.00 round trip via Amtrak (save $3 a day over 50 days)
leave on the 19th, see the inauguration, return on the evening of the 20th, and it's only a 3 hour trip via the Acela Express.
