Dems don't welcome McCain

Just before President Bush invited both candidates to meet him, Chris Dodd and Chuck Schumer put out the sharpest Democratic statement yet:

We are pleased to report we are making bipartisan progress on a rescue proposal for our financial markets. During these discussions, we have received significant cooperation and constructive feedback from the other side of the aisle -- with one notable exception. Apart from his unproductive criticisms made from afar, we have heard nothing from Senator McCain on these critical issues. Now is certainly not the time for him to inject presidential politics into these delicate discussions.

The aim, it seems, is to cast McCain's visit into the same partisan stew he's trying to rise above.

3. Yesterday, on CNN, Wolfie asked Schumer what he thought of McCrash's decision...and
Schumer said it was weird and odd. That he has not heard at all from McCain about this at all in the last week......

Dodd more or less echoed Schumer with Rachel Maddow last night. That although he had been in constant touch with Obama all week and in fact Obama was also in contact with Paulson, he hadn't heard from McCain.
