He wanted to stick it to Zapatero by implying that Spain is part of Mexico and that Zapatero is possibly a drug lord? Does that sound plausible? Or has the old boy's head for geography just run out of steam? This is the same candidate that was talking about Czechoslovakia as if it still exists and insisted that Iraq and Pakistan share a border.

1) He won almost immediately after the madrid Train Bombings, a fact that befuddled the hard right, who swore to high heaven that bombing would assure an Aznar victory

2) he then immediately pulled troops out of Iraq, which many wingnut commentators actually blame for the insurgency (because they're fucking nuts).
