Conservative for Obama (Jim Leach)
Context for Journal Entries: I'm in the process of compiling all the columns/articles written by "conservatives" either (a) against McCain/Palin, or (b) for Obama/Biden. Yes, I know that many are frequently posted in the Editorials or Other Articles. However, they're always mixed in with the many articles on other topics and I, personally want a "set" all in one place, for easy reference when discussing issues with conservatives. So, I'm posting them in my journal.

Former GOP Rep. Leach Endorses Obama
By: AP/Mike Glover, Time Magazine, Aug. 12, 2008

Former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach, a leading Republican moderate with a foreign policy background, is endorsing Democrat Barack Obama for president.

The former Iowa congressman's backing was announced Tuesday as part of a group of GOP activists crossing party lines this year.

Leach told reporters: "I'm convinced that the national interest demands a new approach to our interaction with the world." Leach added that Obama offers the leadership to do that.

Per other DU-ers' requests, I've cross-posted links only in the Research Forum: Conservatives Against McCain/Palin and Conservatives For Obama/Biden.

1. Beautiful
Seems like the GOP are coming out of the woodwork for Obama. Chuck Hagel kind of threw McSame under the bus this morning also.

4. I cite this fact
when anyone brings up the inexperience argument, or that Palin has just as much. Not that Barack doesn't have an impressive resume, but it takes less time and it's more convincing to point to all the conservatives who've made the case for Obama/against Palin.

If you don't mind, I may do some print-outs to bring with me when I'm canvassing. I find a well written article is more interesting to read, especially to the average voter, than the bullet point print-out that can make your eyes water.

Thanks so much Tesibria!
