Voting Machines - will they be rigged, hmmm, "irregular" again?
Well, some of you are probably too young, but I vividly remember the 2004 Election and Bush's friends at Diebold. It was crazy!!! So many underhanded things were done with voting machines.

The election is approaching fast. No one is discussing this issue at this time. I hope the same thing doesn't happen this time. Do you think the Obama campaign is thinking of that? It is never too early to start.:argh: :argh: :argh:

1. Break the fucking machines!
Take sledge hammers to them if we have to - force them to hand count paper ballots if thats what it takes. We need fair elections NOW!

5. Then break their backs...
Voting is a fundamental right of every citizen of this country - if we can't vote the only recourse is to pick up wepons - does anybody really want to see that?

2. The answer to your question about the machines is YES. No doubt about it.
Why stop now since it's been so successful and they keep getting away with it. Why stop now. As one of those activists who has been invovled in this nightmare for many years (I'm from Florida, after all), it's clear that the American public is either in too much denial or too out to lunch or just totally stupid. The fact that there has yet to be a major uproar/protest, etc. against voting into machines designed by partisan corporations who do not allow anyone to view the source codes thereby making the elections unverifiable. Is the Obama campaign aware of this? I have no idea- I can only pray that someone has clued them in by now. John Kerry for example, would be a good one since he knows damn well that Ohio was rigged (not to mention the rest of the states). Maybe Bobby Kennedy Jr. has clued them in by now? They are a smart bunch and they are running a pretty amazing campaign so I do have some hope, that someone in the campaign is well aware of this.

But, that's why we need a landslide - we cannot have close elections in the swing states that vote electronically. If not, we're screwed.

4. I'm very surprised no one is talking about it
Remembering about the voting machine nightmare the day before the election will not do.

By the way, I am still mad at John Kerry for surrendering so easily. He won, he knew Ohio was rigged. The huge discrepancies between votes reported and exit polls were sooo out of statistical parameter. They were extensively reported on this very board in 2004.

I can't even stand the thought of another stolen election and four more years of the same old Republican crap.

6. Nothing surprises me any more. It's terrifying, frankly, but I'm running out of rage.
I cannot imagine that the brilliant team running Obama's campaign has not been warned about this and if that's the case, one would think that they do not have any intention of waiting until Election Day to try to resolve this. If they are ignoring this then frankly, they are idiots.

We had tons of lawyers on the ground here in Florida in 2004- Election Protection was here and everyone ran around looking very concerned with great intentions. But, when they ran out of machines in the University, there was no recourse and of course there were/are those machines.

One of the ways they are creating at least a sort of back- up plan, is by phone banking and listing all of the people who state they will be voting for Obama- names, addresses, etc. I suppose if we loose and it's because it appears to be rigged based on the exit polls, we'll have at least some recourse to start demanding a recount or access to the source codes - AND- with enough public outrage at the impossibility of the numbers, we might be able to wage a revolution. Or maybe it will simply pass by and he'll concede like Kerry did (I'm still mad at him too). I pray that Obama really is who he says he is which would mean that there's no way he would let them get away with this again.

7. I don't think Obama will act like Kerry did in 2004
I am hoping that they are already considering the voting machine issue and putting all their ducks in a row... early.

10. Yes, but less so. We elected some Secretaries of State who should help.
