Palin's Field Trip to the UN
Apparently worried that "you can see Russia from Alaska" isn't working with voters, the McCain campaign has now decided that Palin can cement her foreign policy credentials by going on a guided tour of the UN.

McCain may take Palin to the United Nations
U.S. presidential candidate Sen. John McCain may take his running mate Sarah Palin to the United Nations next week, U.N. officials said on Tuesday, to give her the chance to meet a few world leaders,

Speaking on condition of anonymity, several U.N. officials told Reuters that they were preparing for a possible visit by the Republican candidates next Tuesday, the day President George W. Bush and one of his main foes, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, address the 192 U.N. member states.....

The Wall Street Journal cited an unnamed Republican strategist as saying a visit to the United Nations would boost the Alaska governor's foreign policy credentials.

Guys, her foreign policy credentials are becoming more impressive by the day:
1. Some of her fellow Alaskans may have glimpsed Russia at some point in their lives.
2. She had a layover in Ireland once.
3. She's touring the UN, just like tens of thousands of high school students.

If she starts subscribing to Foreign Affairs, we're in deep trouble.

2. I went on that in 5th grade. So now the question is, "Sarah Palin, are you smarter
than a 5th grader?"

And after that, is she going for a tour at the Bazooka bubble gum factory?
That's what *we* did!

11. For a 5th grader, the Bazooka factory must be a lot neater than the UN.

3. I wonder if she did "Model UN" when she was in school?
My guess is, NO.

If a tour of the UN is the best you can do to help someone get some foreign policy creds you're in a world of hurt. That will really become a bad joke fast. That is like they were just trying to give Jay Leno some material.

5. But according to the Republican strategist, it'll boost her credentials.
I went on a tour of the White House once, so I feel pretty sure I could cut it as Prez.

nothing for substance. All they got are soundbites that make her sound like the lieability she is.

I hope those members at the UN agree and treat her accordingly.

Is that "small-town-values" enough?

Or is it still too elitist?

27. Wait! I thought that the UN is "irrelevant"
Bush, Cheney, et. al said so. Isn't McSame pushing his so-called "League of Democracies" BS? Oh, I guess the UN is still "relevant" so long as a visit to it will give Palin the ability to say that she's met some world leaders, right?
