Obama may or may not be at present farther behind in the polls than the polls indicate. We have to be honest and acknowledge we've had a rough couple weeks.

Let me repeat a few highlights of what I have observed here in Scioto County.

1. For the first time we have an active, organized volunteer effort geared towards the top of the ticket in Scioto County. There was very little GOTV for Kerry (he stil won 47% in the County and took Potsmouth);

2. The Obama campaign has rented a large and constantly staffed office on Chilicothe Street;

3. We have about 20 volunteers committed to canvasing this weekend and are still getting more;

4. When we talk to base voters, they are with us.

Again-I'm not minimizing the difficulty of our task and the recent blitz of not so subliminal ads about black men leering at white girls and being disrespectful to white women won't help. There's a lot about this campaign that remains to be done.
